Nice job. I just ordered the 4″ wheel and suspect the fit will have a slight amount of wiggle as well. Sightron scopes are very good. I’ll check in to Scopeknob. Your link (underline) didnt work.
For the precise long range shooter all of the manual magnification techniques are not good enough and some parallax error will exist. I set distances using the range finder and then set the side focus so there is NO parallax error and and then mark the tape on the wheel.
Then we use both the rangefinder and the wheel for an exact setting. I only did this on my gun that shoots exclusively from a bench rest.

Ranging appears somewhat consistent on my Hawke Sidewinder Tactical so I adjusted the wheel to be on at 50 yards then used a pencil to mark off shorter measured distances.
I may need to re-calibrated that when I move back to shooting 100 yards.
One thing to remember about that, is it only works well above a certain magnification. It’s been a while, so I don’t remember the exact numbers, but I think it is in the high 20x or low 30x range for range estimation with parallax to work. That is fine for target shooting, but for hunting it is a bit out of the question. Oh, and it only works down below 50ish yards. So forget it for real long range shooting.
Basically, what I am trying to say is unless you are target shooting it is going to be hard to use. It would probably be better to learn to range estimate on your own, or buy a real rangefinder to do it. I just never trusted the parallax thing for hunting.

TBH I never look at the graduations. I rotate the focus wheel past focus (turning toward longer range), then rotate back down until the image focuses.
Thats the recommended procedure for side-focus scopes and it works very well.
I have never trusted the markings because that assumes I have taken the time to judge the distance, and I rarely do that either. 😆
You never watched American Airgunner? 😛 Seriously those Side Focus graduations are way off and if you shoot game at considerable ranges it makes a difference.
