Q:

Is .25 cal too much?

I like to take my .22 and shot at 2×4 sections with stick on targets stuck on them. Will a .25 just blast right through the board?

If I was going to have just one caliber which would you chose?

Thanks for the feedback. It is greatly appreciated. Now on to .25 cal for me.

I’ll second that.

I love both my .22 ad 25. There both really Accurate. But the. 22 dose get a lot more shots and it gets pritty good foot lb for killing stuff and it really tests your shooting shill at great distance. But now the .25 makes massave power wand just down right distroys stuff but the trade off is it uses more air. But if u have to only have one pick the .25 because u can tune it down to get more shots and its like I said a hole lot more fun because it will put the smack down on any thing.

it’s all a matter of speed and weight. How fast will you push the 25’s when shooting at 2×4’s. More than likely though…at range using something like JSB Kings, the pellets will not blast through a 2×4 with one shot.

But as with any wooden backer, the more pellets you put into one area, eventually the pellets will blast through.

.22 pellets of equivalent weght have a better BC due to being narrower and longer, but .25 pellets are generally harder to find. if you want the last word in muzzle energy, however, a .25s slightly larger bore can make better use of the air behind it. just like a .177 condor can shoot 16 grain pellets at 1000fps, the same weght pellet in .22 will get launched at over 1200 from the same powerplant. you likely wont easily achieve 100fpe with a .22, but for the .25, it is very common for a well tuned condor…depends on your intentions, i guess…

I like both, but I have to say that .25 is a great caliber IMO 😀

In all actuality my TSS shoots .22 120fps faster then it shoots .25 so the .22 penetrates farther… the .25 just hits harder. It is a great caliber.. although premium pellets are a little harder to come by, not every stora has .25’s on the shelf

Too much is never enough.
