Harris Bipod qyestion…. swivel or not??
Putting together the final pieces of my TSS w/ Maddog stock. I am going to put a bipod on it, just can’t decide whether our not to get one that swivels? I have a std Harris ultra light 6-9 inch and love it. What are your experiences with a swivel bipod? Does anyone have a bipod they want to part with? For money of course 😀 [/u]

I have one swivel and one non swivel.
The swivel is great in the field for hunting… but the gun tends to lop over to one side when just sitting on the ground and mine has fallen on flat hard surfaces a few times (I have finger tightened the swivel as much as I could).
The non swivel is fine for bench rest… but make sure your sling stud is drilled properly otherwise you’ll have cant. You could use it out on uneven ground using the leg adjustments, but that’s a lot of work.
think of the “cant” option as a fine adjustment
most bipods I have had have adjustable legs
independent that is, so the cant can correct the in
betweens, matter of personal choice I guess

mine just let me lean the gun left to right, but i could see an advantage to being able to lead the prey without haveing the bi-pod bind up….

does the swivel allow the gun to rotate clockwise/counter clockwise to keep the gun level on uneven surfaces. Or allow you to swing left and right without moving the legs on the bipod?
my bi-pod is just an el-cheapo but the way that i have it mounted gives me a fare amount of swivel.. when it was on my other setup i could swing it far enough to one side to use it as a mono-pod if i really wanted to.. I like the swivel for when im on the hill side shooting ground squirrles…

I can’t speak for the swivel model. But I have the 9-13 lightweight and can’t imagine needing the swivel model unless I was shooting on an uneven surface which I won’t be. Your 6-9 would have been nice mine extends past the end of my ss frame when folded but it’s an excellent bipod.

I have a Nexstar picatiny mount one available
you would have to get an adapter for it
I think it cost me 25.00 would have to check

Can you leave the swivel locked with a Pod-Loc in the upright position and just adjust the can’t if you really have to.
