I need your shot string data!
Hi Guys,
I want to grab as much data as humanly possible on shot string data and run the numbers in order to see what the average psi/velocity curve looks like.
I am interested because :
1. I have no data of my own (no chrony and all too rare chances to shoot) but I have seen some strings posted here and there. I’m sure some of you must have spreadsheets filled with delicious data, just waiting for their moment.
2. I am horrible at math, hence I hate it, hence I am horrible at it. I tried looking up formulas for gas/pressure/volume and ended up with a headache.
3. I neeeeds it. I am working on a mod for my gun that compensates for drops in pressure by modifying valve timings. With some psi to velocity data, I might be able to come up with the volume of gas responsible for pushing pellet of weight x to speed y and be able to teach this little guy how much air to release in order to get pellet of weight x going consistently at the same speed “regardless” of bottle pressure.

You can think of what I’m working on as a “smart” regulator…
Simplest way is to use a regulated setup. This then releases the same pressure for each shot until to reach the regulators set point. I can post some data for you later if you still want it, and I have both regulated, and un-regulated data for a Talon SS.
