Q:

Filarms

I would have thought their rarity would have caused a price increase, however this auction looks lowball to me.

It did not start out as a scam. A lot of work went into making the guns and getting them imported. When the shit hit the fan everyone lost and it turned into a scam.

Never understood why someone would rob hundreds of people on one scam for such a low return (10, 20, or even 30 K) considering the fact that out of those 50 to 100 people there just might be someone with enough balls to introduce you to the laws of Karma. If you want to be a criminal you should ensure that your return far outweighs your risk of reprisal…just can’t understand grifters…

I didn’t comment on the quality of the gun.

You’re are correct, you assumed since a piece of polished shit is rare it should be valuable…

Mike S,

There definitely was a craze to own one. Lots of pre-sale hype by Chris. Everybody was in on one. The problem was though, everyone gave full deposits or half deposits and never saw a gun. Chris made off to the Philippines with probably TENS of THOUSANDS of dollars of folks money and wouldn’t not return phone calls or emails or ship guns. The day that i went to Chris’ house to shoot the new 25 cal, there had to have been like 20 airguns there in boxes that he was shipping to people that had ordered. That was IIRC the first shipment of orders to go out. So some folks did get a FILARMS like the guy selling the one in the link you provided but, probably like 90% of the people that did order and pay for one DID NOT get one.

I would say to date, it is the biggest airgun scandal around and probably won’t be topped anytime soon. And Chris is still no where to be found. I often wonder if he still resides here in Calif.

I didn’t comment on the quality of the gun. I just remember they were the craze and everyone had to have one. I guess I imagined there was just enough of the craze still out there to command a higher price. That said good to hear the critiques here. I know should I ever have the misfortune of seeing one to piss on it.

Love that Avatar Wok.

lol….one of the other things that i specifically remember was that the pellets that Chris had on hand from the Phillipines did not match the bore diameter. that right there was a HUGE NO NO, not only in the shooting world but also in the marketing realm. You should never tell a potential customer that the pellets on hand don’t quite match the bore diameter even though they both are supposed to be 25 cal (his first batch of 25’s)

Hence why i didn’t buy one….

At least the seller is from Sugarland, Tx. I grew up there…….but still wouldn’t buy the Filarms HYPE.

Lots of shitty guns out there. Just because there are less of one maker does not make it any more valuable.

It is only valuable if more people want it then there are available.

They also have a reputation for being poorly made, as is rough machining and ill fitting parts, leaking and what-have-you… 😉

FILARMS?? BOOOOO, BOOOOO, BOOOOO!

With that whole scandal thing some years ago, i would never support them even IF the guns were free. Chris lived no more than 3-4 miles from my house and i personally shot one of those guns and at 25 yards……FAGHETABOUTIT! I was on the brink of buying one till he invited me over to his house to test one out personally.
