Q:

Latest acquisition.

I had an AR6 cluttering up my cabinet and was looking for an HW97 and a decent scope to go with it. I tried my luck at Blackpool Air Rifles (UK) and offered them a trade.

On their second hand shelf they had a Simmons 6.5-20 x 50 AO , Phillipines made, and in their used rack was a .177 HW97 synthetic. The scope came with the rings. These scopes are difficult to find in good order over here so I was amazed at my luck. My AR6 and some money exchanged hands and I now have this stunning combo.
Got it home, (man, that was a LONG drive!) and got the rifle and scope zeroed in three shots, not bad!
I’m a happy bunny. It shoots Field Target Trophy at a very consistent 11.4 fpe with around 5 fps between shots so far.
Not blistering perfomance for you guys in the US but more than enough to keep me legal and happy over here.
The action is smooth and easy to cock, the firing cycle is not harsh which leads me to believe this gun has been tuned by someone who knows what he’s doing.
It’s a heavy weight but I think that contributes to accuracy.
Anyway, I thought I would share this with you lads around the world.
Keep safe.

Good looking rig you got there. Good score!

Nice rifle. Once there in stock at PA, I’ll have one in .22.

Very nice Bob.

It’s a sweet looking piece and what the heck, everyone needs one heavy rifle just to appreciate the light ones!
