Q:

Vise I built

I got this idea for a vise from fellow member thenoid. :thumb:
It sure makes testing, and working on the rifle easier.
Just welded together some scrap steel I had laying around.
1″ tubing for the frame , section of a 2 1/2″ angle for the front v block and a piece of 1 ” flat bar at the rear.

Yeah, I bought a rest and it is horrible. Aside from a huge amount of play, it isn’t designed at all for the round bottle, and I had to do some fiddling just to get it useable.

Love this solution.

Sadly, I have no welder hardware, but have a great welder in my family (my daughter).

Blah

If u put a bolt under your v-block, Velcro strapping could rap around for an excellent hold. Quick, easy and doesn’t scratch the gun.

Thanks guys.

I will keep you posted on the upgrades.
I plan on making some longer wing bolts for elevation adjustments,
and quick release clamps to hold rifle in the front v block and
at the bottle end.
A detachable catch tray will be also be added.
Mabey you guys wold be intrested in seeing some other things I have built, I may post them in general or off topic.
But now its miller time :18:

Guys,

I have to agree that building things to help with my hobbies is almost as fun as the hobby itself… Nice looking rest man, really is. I see you don’t have alot of adjustment to get centered on your target to shot from the rest. I see the feet have some, but not alot, least yet.

My rest I made many years ago, I used a piece of acme thread and a nut to fit. Its a fast pitch thread that is wonderful to make large adjustments easy and still not having to shim up the back or front of the rest, leaving the rest on its own feet…

I made mine from some wood scrap and welded up the acme thread for the V-block…

Something I made on mine and I would bet you would love, and would be very easy for you to make and attach to yours would be an area right in the middle of the rest under the rifle, for a catch area..

Stuff like allen wrenches, pellet tins from which you shoot from, cleaning supplies and a host of other stuff… Now if it were mine I would make several small areas that are seperate from each other, that way tools and parts in one, while pellets in another and cleaning supplies in a third LOL… The set screws or some call grub screws are something that needs their own place to keep track of LOL…

You could cut metal to make several small square shallow trays to tack on, and/or cut short lengths of exhaust tubing and tack a bottom in those and make round dish like containers to tack up to the frame as well…

Trust me here, you will absolutely love any and all you add to this rest you have started… Look forward to reading and seeing how you and your project rifle rest works out for you!!!

WoW nice work looks great!!!

Nice!!! I find it very gratifying making things for my hobbies. Since I got my AAA and have been following this forum, my other hobbies are almost non- existent. Good job.
