Cleaning Kit
This has probably come up many times although I couldn’t find anything when I searched.
I have an Edgun R2.5 that’s all over the place. Sometimes it will nail a dime at 30 yards then there are times it’s way off, almost a few inches off. I have it bench rested as well. I’m thinking it needs to be cleaned but haven’t really put more then 50 pellets through it. Not really sure what air rifles consist of cleaning, I am when it comes to my AR15’s but I’ve read not to use the same type of cleaning tools and products. I’d also like to mention that if there is a kit for .177 – .25 Thanks!

Sure it does, your just trying to use to big a weed whacker line is all LOL… That line is not really all that much different from the mono fishing line, you can get that from way small to —– Weed whacker size LOL
Im pretty sure i saw that technique in one of Ted’s videos on his Edgun. It unfortunately doesn’t work for anything smaller than .22
I tried to find the post to give credit to whomever it was that I originally read it from, but I had no luck. If you know please speak up.
Cut a length of the heavier duty weed whacker line long enough to feed through your barrel easily. Cut one end pointy sharp. The other end; heat up with a lighter/match/flame and tamp it flat so it mushrooms nicely. Like the head of a nail.
Push the pointy end through a dry patch (or oiled, or whatever you believe is proper), slide the patch to the nail head end then thread the pointy end through your barrel from the breech end. When the patch enters the barrel pull it through with firm and consistent pressure. Not too fast or you run the risk of ripping the patch through the middle and leave it somewhere in the barrel. Then you’ll have to use a rod to push it out.
My groups had opened up past 1″ and after cleaning the barrel as above I’m back to 5 shots- same hole. 🙂

Thanks for the link. I think I’ll put some more lead before I decide to clean it. He also mentions to run it dry vs oiled. Lots to learn.

Rowdy is on the right track about the mono line. I was using the heat-up-and-make-a-nail-head-pointy line method but found just as was stated, it was hard to thread the patch on the line then the line would pull through the patch and come off the line in the barrel.
This is the method that I use now. I found that the patches are easier to get on the line and don’t end up in the barrel and have to push them out.
1. Cut a piece (I use 30lb with .22) three times longer than the barrel.
2. Tie the two ends together.
3. Feed loop into the barrel from crown to lead.
4. Lay the patch(es) in the loop and pull through.
Yes, 177 caliber can be a little tougher because of the barrel diameter but I use fewer patches and heavier line to reduce beakage.
