Crosman 2300S – Review
I’ll keep this short and sweet.
o Looks great.
o Well balanced for weaver hold.
o Long sight radius
o Williams notch sight is awesome. You have very fine adjustment.
o Trigger is decent with a bit of creep but a little polishing with a honing stone works wonders.
o Trigger pull can be decreased with a simple adjustment.
o All metal construction.
o Trigger blade is pretty good with a moderate width surface. I will not be adding a trigger shoe.
o Adjustment wheel is handy. I backed if off until I could hi a 20yard target without holdover and then set the set screw to hold it.
Now the not so great.
o Dovetail appears off axis by 2 degrees. I reduced this by reprofiling the right hand Williams sight dove “mating plate”. I removed it and shaved the top so it pointed upwards when mounted. Tricky to explain but use common sense and do a little at a time.
o Stock grips are okay. I used my RB grips from my 1377 on the new 2300S and it feels and looks great.
o The trigger stop screw is handy but protrudes out of the trigger guard and can catch your finger. I shaved off a few mm and remounted so that the bolt is flush with the guard and stops the trigger at just the right point for me.
o Does not like wadcutters at all, they will not feed. Use a pointed or dome pellet instead. I had great results with Kodiak Match/Baraccuda Match.
Conclusion:
It only took three hours to sight and tweak this gun to my liking. It’s definitely a keeper with RB grips. And I was surprised at my accuracy with notch and post, I attribute it to the long sight radius.

Looks real good , all metal , nice sights, and i like the wood grips on there, i would like to own one.

10 shots from 25 feet (7.5m ~ 8.2yrds) , open sights, artificial light, sand bag. Markings are 1″ squares. Ambient 60F.
Wow , that answers my question about spending more money on a co2 gun, that shot count seems phenomenal and with 10 grain pellets too.
Chronograph this morning and I adjusted the variable power to find the highest velocity without wasting CO2.
* Ambient 66F
* 70 shots at 420 fps
* with a SD of 6fps!!! very consistent!
* 4 ft/lbs of energy using…
* Kodiak Match / Barracuda Match at 10.3gn
I am surprised and happy with the consistent shot velocity and shot count. I attribute it to the CO2 tube exposing a lot of surface area for rapid exchange of temperature.
Nice little gun for $250 plus $35 RB Grips.

I thought about silhouette vs 2300S long and hard. Here’s my take:
– 2300S power source is easy to transport and purchase vs 3000psi air.
– 2300S and Silhouette get approx same number of shots from a fill.
– Silhouette has a better trigger but a little polishing work on the 2300S sear and I am very happy with the pull, light and smooth.
– Central Texas is CO2 friendly with warm winters.
– 2300S is cheaper and has Williams notch rear inclusive.
– My Mac1 IZH46M with peep sights handles precision shooting and cold weather duties.
I will not be getting the silhouette. 🙂
