Weaver/Picatinny adapter or Tri-rail adapter?
I was wondering which one I should get now that Airforce offers both. Seems like I’d have to get two of the Weaver/Picatinny adapters or would a single 4″ Weaver/Picatinny adapter provide enough length to adequately mount a Hawke 6.5×20 tac Scope onto a talon SS?
The one advantage I saw was that you can use quick release Leupold Scope mounts with the Picatinny adapter to take the scope off when traveling.
Does anyone have experience or an opionion on one or the other. Thanks

I’m with you, although still working out some of the scope zeroing stuff in my mind. I think I have it down. Tony at TalonTunes is building me a Blue .25 cal Talon SS “To Go” model (or close to it with my specs) and I need to decide what rail(s) to put on top.
The way I look at this, get two of them man, they could be cut into and that way you could spread out the scope surport alright, but if you put 2 full size on the top rail of the frame, it will also help stiffen the frame a little, which is always a good thing. Least thats my thoughts on this…
The Picatinny should have been made into the frame in the beginning anyway. I hate the little grooves…
Now something else I would do, if this was me mounting the adapters. I would slide under the back adapter, as much shim stock to raise the scope at the back once you start to mount the scope… By placing as much shim stock under the back adapter, once you lock it down and tighten in place, that will be just that much less shim you will need to shim up the scope to get it zero’d and still have all your elevation to work with in the scope.
You with me??? It would be like built in droop in the mounts… I hate how high we have to mount scopes on these rifle. I like my scope as close to the barrel center as possible… Here we have the center of the barrel and the center of the scope recticle worlds from each other LOL…
The new weaver mounts are only 4″ long so if you only want to mount, just buy 1 and cut it in half. They have enough mounting screws to do it easily.
id think youd likely need 2 due to the short length.
i think theyd be better suited for accessory mounting, such as a bipod and such…
Sorry, I was really asking about the Weaver/Picatinny rail adapters and whether I’d would need two or one to mount a scope.
But also why use one over another other than having quick release mounts on the scope.
I’m not sure why you’d need more than one tri rail to mount that scope. I have the tri on both of mine and it works with all my scopes

I like what Rowdy said about “The Picatinny should have been made into the frame…”. ABSOLUTELY! The Hammerli Pneuma is neat in that it has both standard dovetail AND Weaver rails. Good for Hammerli (Hatsan)!
But I disagree with Rowdy on getting two rails for a simple reason: weight. If the scope will mount on one 4″ rail–and it should–then you don’t need the added weight of another rail.
