Q:

.25 caliber

just ordered a talon in .25 . had a tough time choosing between the ss and talon. i like a short gun but wanted to shoot heavy slugs. comes with a free co2 adapter. might try the .25 on co2 butt will probably stick to hpa. got hooked up with a fishin buddy that is just learning to be volunteer fire fighter with the ability to fill my scuba tank, how cool is that. got the .25 bug bad, have two springers that will gather dust im sure. 😀 not sure about the optics yet ,but probably be a bushy.

the one thing ive thought of would be to drill out the transfer port you see in the underside when the bottle is removed, allowing more liquid through.

another tip,

try h-n field target trophy. they are stout, light, well made, and have a good reputation.

they seem to do well at lower speeds…(i.e. field target energies.)

im as curious as you. i think the key will be experimentation.

or find someone that has done this already.

ok so what are the mods than can be done ? would adjusting the top hat be one of them? where should i start ?

any mods that can be done to the adapter itself, or the valve to get a splash more liquid co2 into the valve body so a consistent pressure is experienced all the way down the barrel?(aka co2 power mod)?

i have a refrigerant tech certification, so i already know about temp…

got a chance to set up the chrony today, and it survived with no holes. any way the temp was 40 degrees !!!!. i got 601 fps to 605 with kodiaks !!and 599 to 605 with lazer. i was surprized that they were that close. i think im happy thats about what i expected. the temp. didnt seem to affect the velocity. thought it would drop as th e tank temp dropped.

my internet has been down !! ok ive been shooting a lot on co2, indoors, have not had a chance to chrony it. but it seems to like just about any pellet i can feed it. at least up close !! shooting indoors @ 30 feet so ,probably not a good test but soon i will step outside, oh yea i did hammer a crow at 25 yards lazered.

i know that co2 isnt as limited as many think in a larger bore size, lest we forget the farco shotty or a couple of DAQ co2 guns doing reasonably well…

quote moneyshot:

i know the dynamics of co2 are different than air, does anyone know how to spice up the adapter a bit to keep the pressure up in that bigger bore without dumping a signifigant amount of gas?

I hear keeping the tank warm helps.

Should get around 600fps, with the 25grn. on a hot day 615fps. I could be 50fps off cause I read somewhere 19 in. barrel was max. for speed on co2.

oh the weather has changed, snow cold. not exactly good weather for co2. but i did get a chance to switch to co2 in my shed. shooting at 40 feet the bullet impact didnt change from co2 to hpa. not a real test but i did expect a small change. testing will have to wait. denny

just recieved my mounts today !!!! yippee. should start shooting on co2 soon. ill have some chrony results in the future.

just shot the talon in .25 and its loud. looks like i be looking for a shroud !!!! the town folk have not complained yet !!!

yeah not quite the in town gun 😆

i use co2 in the summer with a talon in .22 and i get 720 fps easy , stock.
hoping to get 600 or so on co2 with the .25. not sure if this is reasonble expectations or not. i shoot a spring gun in .25 @ 580 fps and it drops crows like a sledge hammer !!! right noe im waiting on my mounts. ugh
