Shroud review

So i purchased a custom shroud from Greg aka subssonic near the beginning of the hunting season this past October…Wanting to put it through its paces before i wrote anything about it. I own a condor with a standard 24″ barrel. The condor is used as a hunting rifle. I rarely target shoot, i get bored REAL fast with punching paper. Yep she was loud real loud, but using it in the woods primarily I was only wanting to atme it some. Not NEEDING hammer slap quietness and not wanting to carry a broomstick-long gun into the forest. After talking it over with Greg we decided on a short 3 baffle shroud. After receiving the package, the first thing i noticed was that #1 it was quite light in weight. #2 it added less than 4 inches to the overall length….and #3 and this is a big #3, when i pulled the trigger, it was hammer slap quiet…AMAZING!!!..Even reved all the way up with one of Jerry’s slugs, the noise level is scarily low…Not expecting that at all…It saved me a few times on the woods this past season when a miss that would have frightened EVERYTHING within a mile, and turned it into a score for the stew pot. The shroud is now a permenent addition to my condor, it has loads of scratches all over, from being way too rough in the forest but a little camo paint added here and there, makes it well…kinda cool…Overall i would highly recommend that shortie to anyone looking for a hunting shroud without wanting to add a boat load of length or weight…and plenty quiet for all but the supercharged condors…Awesome…thanks Greg!!!

yeah i have quiet shorty from SS too! works like a charm.

Well I can chime in here…

I have one of Greg’s inserts in my Talon SS. The workmanship is outstanding…really a work of art. I’m always amazed at what craftsmen can do. The fit is perfect. I first tried it out and thought hmm…yeah it’s definitely quieter. But what I failed to remember was that my tank only had about 1000psi in it. So I think I was getting significant hammer/valve bounce. When I filled the tank back up it normal levels it was a LOT quieter! And when I vented the front bushing…ohhh soo that’s what the hammer slap sounds like!

I still may get a shroud for when I crank the power up to higher levels or do outdoor shooting. Yeah I have nosy-ass, cop-calling neighbors if they hear a loud fart. But Greg’s insert is perfect for my needs.

Nothing makes my day like hearing from guys who are happy with their parts… I am currently out of baffles and am waiting till i finish with my RC boat build and the weather to warm up a bit before i get back out into the shop to make more…

Greg

I have to chime in and second this prop for Greg’s work. In fact- my second shroud is on the way and I cannot wait for it to arrive so I can stop swapping my current Subssonic shroud between TTT and TP. The Subssonic bolt handle will be a nice addition on my TTT as well.
