tube reservoir question

i was wondering, with a “normal” tube reservoir gun (mrod, disco, AA rifles), how much does the reservoir expand by when it gets filled?

i was just wondering so i could get clearances for a stock, and a barrel shroud. im getting a southern airguns’ conversion tube for a .25 im working on. i was also wondering, has anyone happen to have tested the discovery fill plug? i think southern airguns go to 3200 psi fill, and i know that the disco is only filled to 2k. or could someone build me a fill plug that uses the disco fill cap, is threaded into the tube the same as a disco plug, but is safe to use for a 3200 psi gun? i dont like the fill plug just chillin out in the wind…its an aesthetics thing for me. and protection for the fill nipple… thanks again guys!! it’ll be a while before the rifles done, but i really think you guys will like this build!!!!

Usually to 5-10% of expansion, otherwise i fail it.

i also did some test with Ti grade 5,6063,6061 & 4130 steel. i always make my end caps from 7075

I would like to be able to use the 7175 ally’ tube. But it has to come from your side of the water and worked out at about £212 per foot.

7/8″ od x .065″ 4130 reservoir increases in diameter by roughly .001″ during hydrotest @ 5000psi.

Larger tubes may expand to a greater extent.
