Hill pump is junk
About 6 months ago, after hearing everybody rave about the Hill pump, I bought one. Some how, right from the start I knew this thing could not hold up.
All I used it for was to take a couple tanks from 1900 psi to 2700 almost every day and maybe 10 times on the weekend. This thing barely has 1 million strokes on it, what a piece of shit.
I tried to top off my “power” tank today and the pump did nothing, went up and down and just hissed at me. I tore the whole thing apart piece by piece, took me almost 10 minutes of my valuable time, and sure enough, there it was, a small glob of grease had finally made it’s completely through the pump and stuck to the final check valve.
Took me yet another 10 minutes to reassemble and toss in the trash.
Shoebox is on the way, hope you guy’s didn’t steer me wrong on this too.

That’s why I come here, I know I can’t trust anyone so I like to get advice and do the opposite. Works everytime. 🙄
I read the original post and thought the pump was shit… Turns out – it’s fine – you just have to maintain it…. go figure… I have to spend more time maintaining myself than I do my airguns.
On a side note… after shooting my 22 pistol for a few weekends – I really appreciate the convenience of shooting an AG… just fire some shots and store it… no cleaning and amazing accuracy. The 22 rimfire takes 45-60 minutes to clean the bolt assembly and barrel for carbon deposits.
just kidding, my reality is the Hill pump, I cant justify the shoebox yet 🙁

Man are you guys tough, if you read my post correctly it says that after 6 months of very heavy usage, the only problem was a stuck check valve that only took 20 minutes to repair. There were no other signs of wear anywhere. This pump is flawless.
I was just trying to make an excuse to get a shoebox.
I hope everyone’s happy now cause if my wife reads this post after already ordering the shoebox there is going to be hell to pay.
If you thought that 10 minutes spent on grease is a waste of time your gonna hate having to grease your Shoebox over and over again.
The best way to do it is buy one of every item available and try and test it yourself. Then use the one you like the best. Then when the little glob of grease clogs up your pump you can be angry at yourself for steering you wrong.

Here is what you WILL learn and what your starting to learn. You can ask for all the advise you want. Some people own an item that they have used a thousand lifetimes and some have owned the same namebrand but its a P.O.S. (pc of shit) that didn’t last 4 minutes. It’s not anyone on the forums fault that you got a shitty Pump, its Hills fault for not being consistent. I’ve had mine for about 5 years with NO problems. I have a SHOEBOX that i love to death SO FAR but it doesn’t mean that you won’t get a hill or shoebox that breaks on you the first time out. It shouldn’t happen at the prices that we pay but unfortunately it may/will. Everybodys experience with anything on the market today is just…………..DIFFERENT!

You can’t trust the guys on this forum, they will steer you into the shit everytime, I suggest you go to Yellow where the good guys are.
