Talon SS with 24" barrel
Hi,
I have a Talon SS .22 cal., with no modifications made. I have just ordered a 24″ .177 cal. barrel for it. And was wondering what kind of velocity my Talon SS will be capable of shooting with the 24″ .177 cal. barrel and the standard Talon SS valve.
I can see that the Condor .177 cal. also have a 24″ barrel, and is listed with a maximum of 1450 fps. But it also has the hi-flow valve.
I don’t have a chronograph, so I can’t test it.
Anyone know? or are willing to share a qualified guess?

If you want to get the most out of your AF air rifle, a chronograph is a must. Some guys shoot into wood and measure the penetration. That just doesn’t work. Real, hard numbers from a chronograph is the only way to know what effect your adjustments are having the gun’s performance. Real numbers will help you to achieve your velocity goals, detect leaky seals, and maximize your shot count. A chronograph is a must have tool for us airgunners.

if you dont get a chrony, your rifle will never shoot nearly as well as it could.

I would love a Shooting Chrony – mostly for fun, because I’m not sure how much I really need one – however the price in Denmark is just about twice the price as in the US. So I’ll be saving the cache for a Talon Tunes Angled Tank Adapter Mini. As I really need the gauge. Can’t undrestand why AF have not made one as default, plus the fill nipple. They are both a must.
get a chrony. it will save you much time and head aches.
The standard Talon tank should handle the 24″ barrel with no problem and will top 1000 fps easily.
not sure if itll be a problem with a talon valve, but i know personally that with a .22 hi-flo powering a .177 barrel, tank dump was a problem. as for numbers, look for maybe a 20% increase over .177 talon(stock, 18″) numbers.
its likely your valve may need tweaking, though.
