Need help with Nightforce scope
Iām on the market for my new scope for my future R3 .25 long(Still waiting š³ ), in the mean time I will use it on my condor .22 & .25 cal (24ā barrel)
My budget is $ 2,200 (max), Iām looking into the Nightforce scope
All of them with Mil-Dot:
1. Nightforce NXS 8-32x56mm (1/4 MOA adjustment) 30 mm Tube SF with 2X Hi-speed Zero Stop Elevation Knob $ 2,092
2. Nightforce NXS 8-32x56mm (0.1 Mil-Radian adjustment) 30 mm Tube SF with 2X Hi-speed Zero Stop Elevation Knob $ 2,177

I’ve warn you that the word overkill will come up š
Fast and Danger, the man has a $2200 budget for the scope and although he doesn’t want to spend it all, he wants a quality optic. Your advice is very good, for someone who ask for a good scope at a low-medium budget. I had a Hawke scope and hope never to be financially forced to return to it.
I assure you these words are not mean. Just ask a friend to look through his Bushnell for example. Far from best, but superior glass than Hawke, and not much more money. Although you will return to Hawke, you will never recommend it except to those that have a $400 budget.
I have a Nightforce 5.5×25 and the optics are excellent. The reticle is great too, as sharp as anything I’ve ever seen in a scope. However, that scope is for long range work only. It will not focus inside 50 yards. I keep it as an alternate scope for my .32 Woodsman that is accurate out to ranges where the Nightforce scope can actually make a difference.
I know at least one of the scopes you’re looking at focus’s inside 50 so that’s probably the one to get unless you want two scopes on quick release mounts or never shoot under 75 yards…
BTW, the Nightforce scopes are big, heavy and extrremely sturdy tools. They are probaby overkill for AF or the R3.
F & D, thank you for info, I had been research about Hawke Tactical 30 IR, but when I found out it make in China (100%), š³ šæ ( I know it sound weird to another people) I refer get something build in US to support more work in US. rather then get some thing cheaper but screw up out US. worker. (NF get some of part produce in Japan, but final assembly, test, and inspected in US)
I know it cost $$, but I refer to support US country where I live better than another country

Hawke Tactical 30 6.5-20×42 will run you $400 and it will be more than enough for your Matador R3 Long.
I have two of those on my R2 .22 and R3 .25 —- LOVE THEM!!!!

Take the time to consider a Sightron scope.
At half the price you get at least the same quality in optics as the Nightforce. Some say that the optics are even better.
The sidefocus knob, the 1/8 clicks and lifetime warranty are a must for me.
The ExacTrack is a nice bonus too.

The downsize is only the 10-50 model focus down to 10 yards. The 8-32 focus down just to 40 or 50 yards and for an airgun it’s not enough.
The good news is they used to make this scope from 2 piece tube. Now they just make them from one piece. I was lucky enough to buy the early one piece lot just as they arrived on the market.
The 10x isn’t to big. I had a Hawke 6-24 (and sold it) and never used less than 10x on it. On the other hand 50x is not to big. It was fun to sell my crappy spotting scope and have a quality one just on top of my rifle.

I’m sure some guys will say it’s a overkill but that means your choices are even more š A good idea is to justify the scope for a future powder burner š

OFF TOPIC:
I’m in the process of reviewing the Sightron but the camera that I have (Sanyo Xacti SH1) shots crappy video unless there’s a lot of light around it. The image becomes pixelated in low light. I think it has to do with settings but they are so many and don’t know what to change. Maybe someone can help me on that.
I was trying to record the top of a building at 640 meters away (rangefinder) and could barely see it through camera and scope. Unmounted the camera from the Seben DK2 and looked through the scope only. At 50x I could clearly see the building and the man on top of it lighting a cigarette. The optics are great and it wouldn’t be fair to post a look trough the scope video unless I’ll make it as close to original as possible.

I’m 100% agree with your about NF optics …. excellent optics, because on the weekend I had a chance to hold of NF 5.5×22… it’s sweet & crystal clear,sharp reticle scope (at store close to my house)
down turn (5.5×22), I can not use it under 75 yd, but 100 yds + is very good
I may go with NF 3.5-15×56 or 5.5-22×56 for my AF condor and R3 .22 & .25 Cal long version or/and my real rifle(still waiting for magic e-mail from Tony š³ )
