Verifying some data for my p**** machinist
So my pussy machinist was not man enough to turn down my 25 cal. Lothar Walther blank to .309 inch OD at the breech, he said I should check the measurements again. So just to get it black on white .309 inch OD at the breech = 0.78486 centimeters, so the wall thickness is 7,8486 mm – 6,35 mm =1,4986 millimeters : 2=0,7493 millimeters. So are my calculations correct?

Thicker barrel also requires a modified breech and valve stem (or tophat).
Breech area of the barrel and the smaller diameter of the tophat need do be the same.
Is this done so that any breech will work on any caliber?
I’d leave the barrel chunky and have the breech modded. If you’re swapping barrels, then its not like swapping breeches is any extra work.

despite his expertise and the slightly smaller bore of bsa barrels, drum turned down my job at first for fear he couldnt do it.
i guess its a more common problem than you think, maybe offer him a liability waiver?
Some guys do not like to turn the barrels for the .25 because the wall thickness scares them a bit..

well, i partially agree. however 1 thing to remember is if you enlarge the breech id in lieu of the barrel diameter, it increases the dead space in the breech.
