Hammer weight or not?
Have a Condor with a standard flow valve and an 18″ .22 cal barrel. I took the hammer weight out when I got the gun. With my current setup and PW at 12, it’s launching 18.1 JSBs at 900 fps. Would there be any benefit to putting the hammer weight back in? Thanks for your help. 😀

i think one should try as follows-
put the weight behind the PW(regardless of aesthetics), and pull off the rear guide of the hammer(usually easy). slide the spring over the hammer to meet with the front guide. i imagine the hammer is more stable supported by the spring, reducing initial preload, which is partially taken up by the position of the weight. this will bring down initial preload further than stock, extending spring life and efficiency, stabilize the hammer a bit better, and may produce surprising results.
it seemed pertinent, and i wondered if i could get someone to try it before i gut my gun again…

Syn’s right again, I have a Talon tank I use once in a while with the heavy hammer, just turn the thumb wheel down.
Depends on what kind of return spring is in the Talon tank/valve setup. I had a Talon valve that didn’t work right without a hammer weight until I cranked up the PW… Worked fine with a condor hammer weight.

High-flow valve right?
First off, I think 900fps is pretty much the perfect JSB pellet speed.
If you have no hammer weight and a stock hammer(45gr) then you are mosty likely filling your tank to 2400 or close psi. Your system is maxed out, you can only go up a little on the power wheel to get maybe 910-925fps. Your hammer can’t open the valve much over 2400psi to get more air power.
If you put that little 20gr spacer weight in, then you could shoot at only 2100-2200 psi and Pw on low end 2-3 to accomplish the same 900fps. Now you are maxed out on the low end but can go up on the higher fps range. That extra 20gr spacer lets you open your valve at 2700-2800psi, to generate 975 or so fps(guess).
If you fill from a scuba tank, a 2100 fill to hit 900fps would be nice. More fills per scube tank.
I don’t think the pellet gives a crap, 900fps is 900fps.
Shoot some groups at 50-60 yards, but I think 900 fps is a real good place to be.
