before anyone buys one of these gimmicks they would be well advised to review the Atchisson Accelerator stock debacle that occurred under the GW Bush ATFE which involved a very similar stock for the 10/22 Ruger that was also cleared by his new ATFE for production and unregulated sale.
Lord knows how many purchased Accelerator stocks which were a spendy proposition, like a bit over a grand as I recall
system used a chassis that bolted to your 10/22 action that was then installed in the Accelerator stock. The action was fully free floated and internally spring loaded so the upon recoil the trigger bounced off your finger and very effectively mimicked full auto fire.
Some months after the stocks release an end user wrote ATFE FTB to obtain a Tech Branch letter in His own name and everything unraveled fast with FTB overruling the previous clearance letter thus illlegalizing all of the stocks already sold.
See the devil is that most ATFE clearance letters are only good for the person they are addressed to and further can be overruled at the drop of the hat
In the case of the Accelerator stock a backward trace was initiated using company shipping records and all owners were required to remove the spring from their stocks and return them to ATFE…yes, the Feds decreed a coil spring a “Machinegun” under the NFA!
Another point is that a fair number of States define any of these devices as “Machineguns” in and of themselves. Here in Minnesota Hellfires, BMF adapters and yes this stock are unregistered machineguns under State law…can’t speak for New York but you may want to scope out your State Statutes.
Basically the Slide-fire stock uses the Accelerator principle without the spring assist but that doesn’t mean ATFE can’t change their minds at any time in the future
remember these are the folks that have argued in court that a common shoe string can be a “machingun” depending on the defendants intent.
