Condor problems solved with cast ammo

Well this is for everyone that understands the frustrations that come with getting a new gun that does not shoot right, and those few that have seen the light at the end of the tunnel when everything works out. My quest for a 100 fpe quiet pellet gun started even before I finished my 8 pump on my benjamin 🙂 Well after much research I settled on a condor with a shroud. So the saving started and before long I had a condor ready to be filled and shot. Well getting home late leaves no light for crony work. So the first weekend came and I have the gun shooting and tuned nicely. The next morning I take it out and I decide to do a little shooting. Puffff…..splat…. What the heck? No power? Dang I bet I got a leak. Get back to the house, no leak. A loose top hat. Well the company could not tell me what size the allen was but said they had some problems with it and they could send me a new old style top hat and I could install it. Well I felt that I should get a new bottle and valve and then send the old one back. They said they could do that so I ordered 4 more tins of pellets. At this point I am one tin down and have not really got the feel of the gun yet so accuracy has been spotty. Well the bottle gets here and I finally get to tune this one. About the same FPE and spread and shot count but with a much higher top hat. By this time I can see that this gun does not match the accuracy claims of dime sized groups at 75 yards but is close to the FPE claims. So I call the company and explain my problems and they offer to send a barrel if I want to change it. At this point I really do not want to have to tear a gun apart and start using my gun as a test bed. So I agree to send the gun back to see what the problem is. During this time I have drove back and forth to shoot in a more controled setting with different scopes, different pellets, and shooting in a gun vice. My scuba bottle is low and due for a visual. So the gun goes back with a huge mix up in shipping. Well after that everything goes south for a while. When the gun makes it back I am called and told that the gun is shooting great groups at 10-20-30-40 with kodiaks, enjins, and JSB’s. I am told that the scope turrets were locked improperly? Seeing how I have the same scope on another aigun I find that hard to belive but the locks were backed off during shipping because I did not want the to get banged around with no where to move. So the gun comes back with test targets and I order 2 more tins of pellets from the seller. Well after 400 pellets this weekend I never was able to match the groups shot on the test target. So I pull out my marauder and proced to shoot pellet after pellet into one hole. Back to the Condor and its 3″ groups at 35…….So I fill and start shooting until I run out of air or it groups…this is more of a action of anger and not a scientific test…well at 2000 psi it starts grouping like it should! Ok now lets bring out the crony and see what fps and FPE we have….ERR…ERR….ERR…..dang out of light. So the next morning I check and this is a 50 FPE gun…..I could of got a stock gun to do this 🙁 and saved some money…..What good is 90FPE if you have trouble killing a coffee can at 35 yards? So I go back and forth trying it at the max and then at the 50fpe range……The whole time I am wondering, is it the gun or me, do I need one of those new $200 stock that make condors less hold sensitive….Should I order some hand casts and see if they help? I am also trying to talk myself into likeing this even though it will not fill the application I got it for. It does do one hole at 65 with JSB’s at 50 FPE. So I keep shooting, and keep pumping. At this point I relize that this gun is not hold sensitive, its not me, and it will not match the sellers claims of a dime at 75 and his claims of high FPE. I am luckly because my FIL owns a tin or two of almost every pellet made and even a few cast bullets. I have tried 55 grain casts down to some type of Silver Gammo that came out at 1300 fps and sounded like a 22 mag! Yes silver gammo not gold? With all this it looks like I was a little mislead or misunderstood the sellers claims. If you take the FPE claims and Accuracy claims together, its false. If I try to recreate the test targets with anything but JSB’s….there false. BUT if you take the accuracy claim and lower to 50FPE it works great with JSB’s. So now I am left with making the other claim work……High FPE with decent accuracy. I have one bullet that I have not tried yet in my FIL’s pellet box. Robert Vogals 70 grain .250 hollow points. I take 3 and after hand pumping and setting up a new target I put 3 into a little less than one inch at 35 yards. At this point I am not really trying for a one hole group I am just trying for something, anything that groups better than 3″ at 35 yards. So 3 more go down range this time I am actually expecting to see something and really dedicated to my shooting form…2 into the same hole and I can tell I pull the next one but it still can be covered with a nickle! Man that was quiet also…..Marauder Quiet!! A little clicking on the scope. One shot and a hole appears where the cross hairs are sitting! LIFE IS GOOD!!! Well due to only haveing a few of these hand cast bullets left I dont see what my long range groups look like but I do get on the phone and order more Mr Hollow point bullets. I have to say great customer service also. At this point I can see this gun matches what I need. A high FPE, quiet, 100FPE hammer. As a bonus I get around 14 shots with 20 FPS spread. This is a hunters dream!

I think I have a keeper! It looks like a paint ball gun but what the heck it fills the nitch I need for a hunter!
