I recently tested the new JSB Exact Heavies, 10.34 grains in .177 cal and they work as well if not slightly better than the previous tins…
I would imagine they should work very well in the AF rifles… 😉
Very cool. I’ve got a Talon in .22 with a Condor valve that is a hammer. But I would like to fit it will a .177 barrel as well and shoot some HFT with it. That’s good to know about your tank. I will look for one.
Does anyone know who can thread a .177 barrel 1/2×28 RH?
Thanks,
Paul
libertyman friend, my talon with the original tank and pipe (24 inches) I got 117 shots with an average of 911 fps with lead Crosman Premier 10.5 …… magnum gun settings were 5/2 valve and top hat at 1.3 mm in height …….. but I had to change the spring cylinder (the valve tophat) put a softer spring ……… and working pressure up to 2500psi 1700 psi were 117 shots …… ……….
That’s what I need to know. Thanks!
Paul
Using a standard tank with a restrictive valve spring retainer from Tony. Fill to 3kpsi.
I’m running a TSS with an 18 inch barrel in .17. Running it at low velocity, around 700fps using heavies. I tried every pellet in the mid weight category I had and was appalled at accuracy. Threw heavies in it and groups like a champ. Kodiaks, CP Heavies, JSB… matters not as long as they were in the 10.2-10.5 gr range.
Are you using a standard tank/valve?
What fill pressure?
Cant believe I didnt see this before.

What velocity are you guys seeing with the Heavies? Valve? Barrel lengths?
My TSS 177 12″ likes Kodiak HP 10.34gn, Kodiak Match 10.2gn, and UltraMag 10.7gn (due 5/2012).
The H&N of the same weight and head size as the kodiaks should perform the same.
Best pellet for my 177 Talon SS is the JSB Exact Heavy 10.2g. The JSB Exact 8.4g is a very close second. So close in fact that it really doesn’t matter which one you shoot at closer ranges. The heavies do a little better further (50+ yards) out.
anthony friend good night, I have a talon and lead Crosman Premier 10.5 magnum was well on my talon with both pipe and 18” to 24”, but in the case of 10.2 jsb I already could not a setting in which I liked …… but weights are good for this gun …… but my preference and Crosman premier 10.5 grains magnum big hug and good ……… shoots friend.
I don’t have a TSS just a Talon(18″) in .177cal. I have only feed it Crosman Premeire Hollow Points that I get at the local store. They provide me with 1″ minute of squirrel, which works for me.
My 18″ liked CP 10.5. Why ❓

I’m running about 860-890 with my 10.2-10.7 grain pellets.
