Accuracy Report

For some reason my POI changes in steps as I use up air in the tank. I can understand the pellet dropping but it goes from left to right at the same time. Take a look and try to explain.

Talon SS with 18″ barrel, 100 gr.hammer, stock spring, polished hi-flow valve, JBS 18’s and a 2700 psi fill and a 900 psi end.

The point of aim was the bull but I have it zeroed at 45 yds and I shot at 10 meters indoor using my bipod on a table.
The middle circle is 1″ so it does not look so bad here, but at 50 yds it”s a 4″ spread.

I will never touch this gun again, Oh,wait a minute, I think that’s the UPS guy at the door.

pretty sweet, what range was that

Now that you got it right(by the looks of that target) don’t touch a thing!

Rif is spot on about the holes in the hammer. I did that, even JBed the holes but they do drag.

Guys, I bought a set of bushings from AF last month, they were so tight I have to put the parrel in a vice and force it in and out.

It shoots better than any AF rifle I have had.

I think the 4 screws on the two bushings is the source of much of our consisitancy problems. Not t omention the fact the bushing is on the barrel with just one screw.

I wondered what that clicking was, thanks Riff, it never crossed my mind.

I hate to tell you this, but if you drilled holes in the side of your hammer you just ruined it.

Over time, those holes wil destroy your trigger sear as they rub across it during the firing cycle. There is no way to orient the holes to keep them from the sear, the hammer will rotate and eventually those holes will grab the sear. When that happens, your first lose consistency, and eventually wear the parts out.

Dont ask why I know this. 😳

If lighter worked, time to buy a new lighter hammer. In fart, you can run down to ACE and buy a bronze bushing 1″ diameter by around 1.5″ long. It will be very close to 75 grams.

Its what I use, and have been for over a year with no problems at all. My rifle is very consistent and accuracy is great.

i made a front bushing for my condor that was originally designed to stiffen up the shroud mounting area. what i found was that my groups shrunk dramatically, to the point that i can actually shoot benji domes. ( i had previously had very poor results with that pellet ). i have been toying with the idea of a full length bushing. for now, everything is golden so i’m not gonna mess with it. for now…….. 😎

Why don’t you just remake the bushing but solid.

Nice work, thanks for sharing your results. Goes to show that a heavier hammer, higher fill psi, and higher power wheel settings aren’t necessarily a good combination for accuracy and consistent shot strings.

Yes, and I think the semi free floating barrel exaggerated the effect of the heavy hammer bouncing around on the other end. Putting the original bushings back in probably would have solved the problem, but I worked so hard on the big one bushing idea I had to make it work.

I think when I do the 24″ setup I’m going to use 3 bushings and make the barrel solid with the frame and see how that works. If you want to volunteer a few of your fancy bushings that would be great. and a hammer. and a brass bolt. and a fancy cocking lever. do you have an extra scope? I am out of pellets.

I agree with RC the frame flex is the problem. The heavy hammer may cause more flex of an already “weak point”
Adam do not get excited they are great guns in the price range they are in. I do not expect the quality and accuracy from my condor or talon ss as my daystate. lol the take down feature leaves wiggle room. they are dam accurate enough and very portable too!
Shot to shot consistency Daystate or FX every time.
Pack it up and go hunt squirrels condor time!
awesome gun for the price range and portability. ❗

Don’t you also have a different barrel bushing setup?

If you said the hammer was too heavy, you win. Drilled holes in the hammer to take it down to 75 gr. Put a very small o-ring behind the tophat and only filled to 2400 psi and did a 28 shot string.

I love this gun.

If I missed the bull, it was my fault, thanks for all the help.

Now, back to that 24″ barrel and 40g slugs at 900 fps at 100 yds.

ask Mr N. to shoot us a target like you shot yours and see how his does on the reg.

Actually Mrnewbie just did a post on his new reg and it looks great to me, could be the best way to go.

I have a Ruger 357 mag rifle that I use to test different loads with for my handguns. Every load has a different POI but I never looked for a pattern, maybe this is just natural.
