Q:

I found a guy who makes custom shrouds for all pcp’s….

Full length, custom built shrouds, all pcp rifles, effective baffle system.

He uses a 1″ diameter aluminum tube, with his own baffle design, and if needed flattens out the shroud bottom over the air tube. He says it should be about the OEM shroud length, with perhaps a few inches added if needed. You keep your old shroud tube.

I’m going to send him my S510 carbine and see how he does.

250 bones, delivered, and guaranteed quiet and good looking…like myself.

If he pans out, I just might PM some of you monkeys his email address, if you need his services. He’s got a very good rep over on the Yellow, and the pics he sent me showed nice attention to detail.

The biggest problem with the S510/S410 carbines is they have a distinct “crack” at high power. I added a 7.5″ moderator, but then it wasn’t a carbine anymore. Looked out of proportion. Hope this works.

Regards….

Yep! He makes some pretty good looking stuff!

Oh, you let out your trade secret.

quote mantonio91:

Do you think a dragon claw .50 can be effectively silenced as my talon p?

It will be large. If you can tolerate that, just about any pcp can be brought down to hammer slap and pellet/slug impact.

Sound supression all boils down to diameter, length, venting, and baffle design. Find the magic combo and noise will be greatly diminished, if not silenced.

Josh Graham made my AA S510 quiet as any Talon I ever owned, and with a GTBJ shroud…that was pretty damn quiet!

He’s working on a double barreled shroud concept…a shroud that vents into an outer tube that covers it. It should work.

Look him up on the Yellow.

Hoot, i sure am interested in the shroud, i have an S410 FAC and it does have a crack to it, but man its accurate. Here’s my email.

So Hooo was it that made the device?

Sorry! I forgot all about this posting. I got the AA back rather quickly.

It looked great, it works great, and I’m satisfied.

It made the AA S510 as quiet as any pcp I’ve every owned. I believe it was money well spent.

Good luck.

I would love to know the results, and of course pictures too.

Not him!

I checked him out pretty good. He has a lot of good feedback. The rifle will be in his hands next Wednesday, so time will tell.

Thanks for the heads up.

Hoot

Hoot,

Please don’t tell me it was N.C. from the Yellow Forum !

He should get the pcp next Wednesday. After that, well we’ll just have to wait and see.

Points of interest:

1) How long will it take to get the gun back?

2) Will it really be really quiet?

3) What will the construction/finish look like?

It’s always a toss of the dice…but what the hell, Hitler took a chance! If it doesn’t work out, I’ll know just how he felt before he pulled the trigger.

Kindest regards,

Can’t wait to see the pics.

Alan Z also makes shrouds for the AA guns

mrs. hoot said to get the “extra couple inches”. 😛
