Convert R3 .22 to .177 and back again ? ?

Scott, you would need to get a R3 177 cal barrel and both breech blocks from Ed or Tony. I think that Ed offered the R2.5 in 177 cal, I don’t know if he is offering it in the R3.

If the R3 is offered in 177 cal, it would be a simple matter of just swapping the breech blocks and barrel out.

If you can come up with a 177 cal barrel blank, you would need it machined down to .480″ OD, cut to the same length as the stock R3’s barrel and have both ends threaded 12 mm X 1.25 mm pitch. I currently have a 25 cal BSA Lone Star barrel that is being machined to fit my R3 25 cal Long Version.

If the R3 isn’t available in 177 cal, you would have to have a new front breech block and a 177 cal probe made in addition to the machined barrel.

If you just have to have a 177 cal, you could order a R2.5 177 cal barrel, both breech blocks, also in 177 cal, both air tube/barrel/scope mounts and the rear R2.5 moderator end cap. These R2.5 parts would bolt up to the R3 but, you would have to inlet the stock to have it accept the rear air tube/barrel/scope mount.

I have had a couple of R2.5 front breech blocks made when I was playing around with my R2.5 25 cal long version. They didn’t cost me a lot of money to have made. A R3 version would cost more as the front of it is threaded 12 mm X 1.25 mm pitch for the barrel to screw into.
