Marauder and there barrels
Hey guys,
I want to know something.
I have had a Marauder .22 and it was one from the first generation. I knew I could shoot better then the Mrod, so I sold it and bought me an Edgun which proved that I was correct 🙂
Now, my question. I’ve seen back then you had a 1st generation Marauder or Barrel and a second generation Marauder/Barrel.
I also think I’ve seen this was due to the 4 baffles in the 1gen and 3 in the 2nd gen Marauders.
And the 1gen not so good barrels, 2nd gen better barrels.
I’m talking about the .22 here!
Now, what is true about this story, because now all of a sudden I don’t seem to find those stories again? A 1st of 2nd gen, 3 or 4 baffles…?
Can you help me here, it would clear up a LOT for someone that wants to buy a Marauder with 4 baffles.

Strange…….. Where did those stories come from..? Always thought there was a 1st and 2nd gen Marauder. Maybe crosman didn’t called them that way, bacause they would’t say the first were crap, but…
Ok guys, thanks for clearing out!
Hi Shaggy, here is a link to a video of how to remove the “lawyer/attorney” spring:
http://avveduti.wordpress.com/2010/04/30/marauder-project-lightening-the-trigger/
Removing this spring, (if you gun has one), make a night and day finish.
Check it out. 😉
The real issue is crosman’s poor quality control. They are perfectly happy sellling us junk with the promise that they will make it right if we send their products back to them. That’s pretty lame. My first P-rod was a piece of junk out of the box. The replacement is a great shooter, (no, I don’t want to selll it. 😉 ) My buddy’s Rogue is a true POS. :horse:
I don’t really know what an autorney Spring is,,, Heres how all my marauds work, I pull the triger back a little ways and a feel it stop, then when I pull it further””not but a tat”” it fires. It is easy on the triger, and shoots consistant, cocks easy and shoots the same with the clip as it does one at a time. The new Rogue as you said seems to be a total failure so I’m not adding it to my collection. Thats the best I can do on the marauds,, To be honest with you the Tony tuned airforce is the hardest hitting 25 I ever seen shot, I own one and It outshoots my CZ by a long ways. And it isn’t pellet pickey,, all my guns will outshoot me. At 45 yards just today off the sites my Disoveries 22 and 177 shot a one inch group. No scope attached at all, I call them my grab all guns they are good enought to shoot out of the box, but the rear site has to be adjusted a little high, so I put a little peace of Tape under the screw for shimming the screw and it worked ok. Thats the best I can do for now,,, Hope this helps a little, but as I said my guns will outshoot me on my best days,. 😀
Those were some of the teething problems that affected SOME of the Marauders that left the factory, (I didn’t mean to imply that ALL Marauders were having those problems.) Those of us who purchased good Marauders are very fortunate indeed. I don’t know if it is true, or not but the it was rumored that the first 100 had been dialed in at the factory and didn’t have the attorney spring in the trigger group. Did your gun have the attorney spring? I won’t sell either of mine either: I am greatful to have them both.

I have 2 in .22 and love them, I can go to walmart and get cheap pellets and shot 1″ groups at 30-40 yds. or buy good pellets and stack them.
For the money it’s a damn good rifle, It’s not a Edgun or Airforce and I never expect it to shot like a $800-$1800 gun.
With all of these problems I still ordered my .25 Marauder when they were first introduced. I figured that if it gave me problems, I would sell it the next day. Imagine my surprise when it shot with power and accuracy? The trigger didn’t break off, nor did the bolt handle. There was no clipping. There was very good accuracy. I later learned that crosman had sub contracted the .25 barrels to the Green Mountain Barrel Company. WooHoo! 😀 Bravo! Encore! That’s right, I bought another…quick before some bean counter screwed up the best airgun they ever produced!
If I had a friend who wanted a .22 Marauder, I would suggest that he buy it from PA, or somewhere else with a good return policy. Crosman will however, make good any Marauder that doesn’t shoot well…that’s what most people say. A Marauder that performs well out of the box is a great value for sure.
Good Luck!
I recon I’ll quit shooting mine I don’t want the handle comming off and the pellet stacking accuracy to cease to exist. 😀 I have all three of them first 100 sold, and not one gun I own can compair to the accuracy with Any pellet you want to use. Mine are not pellet picky at all, at 40 to 45 yards they shoot about a 3/4 inch group with the junk pellets but the good pellets stack right up, Oh well not going to keep ranting,,My Marauds are not for sell since I’ll never be able to get another like them, since the ones produced after the first 100 sold are junk,,,, I dont know what I’d do if I pulled back the bolt and it came off in my hand 😳
Uh does anyone want one of the first 100 made? If so send me a Bank cashiers check for $2500 and I’ll call you on the shipping price. 😀 😀 😀 USA only.
The original .22 Marauders had baffles with undersized holes. They were prone to clipping. Crosman sent out new baffles with larger holes…at the same time, there were airgun smiths who were drilling out the original baffles to 0.270″. (I thought that they used four baffles in all of the Marauders.) The original barrels were also hit and miss. Some were good while many more were garbage. The reviews on PyramidAir suggest that crosman has been using better chinese barrels. The original Marauders had their triggers break, (at least several of them did), and many had their bolt handles fall off in their owner’s hands. That wasn’t good at all. Many come through with scratches from the assembly process, (at least my buddies did.)

check MarauderAirRifle.com they will tell you the same
That’s strange…
Where did I get this info? And I’m not the only one because I saw this this week on another forum…!!
I know I have seen this many times a year ago…
Kazz,there is no 1st or 2nd gen.All stock have 4 baffles.Accuracy varies
barrel to barrel.I installed a .630″ .22 LW barrel and is pretty close to
my Edgun in accuracy but quite a bit heavier.
regards,mark
