Cygnus X Valve
Back40bob sent me his cygnus .308 valve to stop it from leaking. When I got it, it looked like it had been chewed on a few times with a vise. Had to machine where the tank seals to the valve and it buts up to the frame. Made a new spring retainer and acetal seal. Also machined it so you can use a 5/8″ wrench to remove the front of the valve instead of plier or a vise. Made the spring retainer for 1/2″ wrench.

Thanks Doug for helping with the valve. I will post the comparison vs the numbers I got before you did your magic this weekend. Here’s the gun for those who would like to see.
wow early work it looks like…i must admit i don’t recognize it….but who knows….anyhow delrin wont hold it will flatten over time, neither will aluminium, i would use steel, or shim it instead.

It is a old valve that is part of a .308 he made awhile ago. Like an old motor, I basically rebuilt it. It was tired and worn. The white thing is a piece of acetal to limit the tophat. It has a gap of .140″ and with the spacer it is now .100″. I did it so he has a option.
whats the internals look like?
is it set up something like a king size hi flo, or does it have some distinguishing characteristics?
does he have any performance figures?
looks interesting from the outside, i assume the plastic bit where the stem slides serves as something of a seal for excess air?

Yep. I rounded off the end so it will pop in the breech nice and easy.
Turned out really nice. is that the same valve stem to?
