Q:

Etac Regulator came in

Jim sent me my Etac reg setup, I’ve been shooting a standard talon 177 on Co2 for about five years and got tire of the temp problems, bought a hill pump and a 13cf bottle with the reg set for 1400 psi, put it together and filled the bottle for the first time and went shoot, did a quick crony of about 870fps with jsb 8.4’s on about seven or eight, was getting about 730 fps on a warm day with co2, i got 35 shots from 2800 to 2000. and now i got to lower my scope, it looks nice and works great, thanks Jim

Thats good to know, not enough volume, the 1400 psi is doing a great job at taking out pest birds,

You are not going to get tank dump with a reg. Not enough air can flow through the reg after a shot is fired to keep the valve open.

The other reason I went for the lower pressure was to ensure wouldnt have a tank dumping problem, which can happen on .177 using to high a pressure, it builds to much back press. and could hold the valve open, I heard can noy verify that. I would go for higher pressure if I had it on a.22 cal.

If 1400psi is good for .177, should .22 be a couple of hundred psi higher?

Shooting at 1400psi is close to perfect in my opinion. Hits hard enough for small game and the shot counts are still relatively high. =)

I was going to go 1600 just because it was more than the 1200 max I get with Co2, but Jim ran some calculations after I gave him my gun and pellet info and he said 1400 would do. and he was right, I had nothing else to base it on other than the info found here

Hey psi. Out of curiosity, why did you pick a 1400 psi regulator, as opposed to a 1300 or 1500, or 2200? I’ ve read alot about the e-tac reg setup but can’t find anything on why folks choose a partyicular psi reg. Is choosing a gun specific thing, like “my gun shoots best at 1400psi???????

I’ve got one set for 2k. Nice to have consistant shots between fills.

PSI, thanks for the information and the time spent testing.

I turned it down to 4 and it shot at 730’s about what i was getting with co2, I charge to tank to 2800. but it will not come off the reg until 1400 psi

Good report, I am curious, what speeds you would get at a PW setting of 3 and how much PSI are you charging the tank to.

yesterday i gave a quick report on the etac, this morning i got 45 shot at 880 -890 fps, no pinging in the tank, love the extra power and can crank it up for more
