Ranger finder
Will the cheap range finder,
work for finding ranges on building and big objects at the range?

You can occasionally find a good deal on a used Nikon 440 or a similar style Bushnell (450 IIRC). Probably under $100 used.
I’ve used a Bushnell 1500 for years and it has served me well. I’m considering moving up to the Leica.
Quality rangefinders are worth the money but if I were only using them for airguns, then I would stick with the shorter ranging models like the Nikon and Bushnell.

Doubtful man. Gold rangefinders are usually just that, for golf. They use the flags and things to show range. So as far as normal things go, they won’t do it.
It sucks, but good rangefinders cost good money. I tried to find a cheap one, ended up spending $200, and that was a really good deal. So my best advice is either save up for it or just learn to read well by sight.
