Q:

New guy with a question about tank and valve

I’m new to the talon ss , but not to airguns, I have a question
Today I removed my valve from the tank and wow it was tight, my question is do I have to reassemble that tight I mean tight or just tight To me it was over kill, because of the o-ring but I have been wrong before ❓

Yup just snug it up by hand.

I hold the tank by hand and use a 5/16″ rod to tighten it. When the tank spins in you hand it’s tight enough.

Dave is exactly correct on the tightnessissue.

AirForce puts them on way too tight.

If you don’t have a valve wrench, you should get one they are very handy.

You may get a few answers, however my opinion is just to tighten it as much as you can by hand i.e. not using a vice or tools of any kind, you might want to wrap a rubber band or two around it to get better grip. As long as its butts the tank up to the valve with no gap, when there is pressure in the tank it will be more than enough force on the threads to stop you unscrewing the tank from the valve.

Some other people might say to go a bit tighter, It’s what you feel comfortable with. However if you get a tank dump and you tightened the bottle/valve into the gun pretty tight, you might end up unscrewing the tank from the valve instead of the valve and tank from the gun.

I guess that you used some sort of vice and wrench to get the valve off, tighten the valve by hand and then go a bit tighter using the same method that you used to get it out. Just not as tight as it was originally.
