83 shot string FX Royale 500 (w/regulator)
Seems the Royale 500 is good for more shots than I thought.
Here’s a string, starting at about 218 bar, JSB Kings:

If shots 77-83 are deleted (tank pressure way down), then the figures look good for a 76 shot string:

This was measured with a ProChrono. I wouldn’t have believed the shot count if I didn’t see it.
After a fresh fill, if you take one shot to settle things in and stopped at 46 shots, here’s what happens with shots 2-46:
Hi-881, low-862, Av-870, ES-19, SD-4. This would be an excellent approach if your looking for best accuracy and shot count. If you’re hunting and the target zone is larger, looks like a good 75 shots after taking one, first shot to settle-in.

It is my understanding they don’t fit either the 22 or the 25. Perhaps a channel could be cut inside to allow that tho.
Mine gets here”tomorrow by end of day” so all I can do is play with my Royale 400 in the meantime.
I rescoped the 400 with my tried and true Bushnell 3200 5×15 Tactical, the Leupold/Holland wil be put on the 500.
I got a fairly new Hawke Sidewinder 4×16 sr6 with the 500, have not decided what to do with that yet.

I have been looking at fx royal 500 in .25 and drooling!
I think the results you got are awesome. With a .25 slug and hitting around 880 fps and great groups at 50 yards what more could you ask for? Sounds like a hunting machine! I do not get too excited about variations in fps (minor) if my accuracy is good I am good!

I wuld like to see you guys shoot on target with all these shots, like 5 shots a target thru the string then you can see the impact variation if any. and accuracy thru out .

Correct. Three of us with matching Hawke HK4026 Scoped & Reg’d 500s were consistently hitting shotshells @ 70yrds using JSB Kings after they were sighted in at 50yrds. So yes, damn accurate + high shot count.
Thanks Steve. Yes, at least w/ JSB Kings. Haven’t tried others. I posted some 5 shot groups Feb. 4th, I think. Used a sock filled w/ rice as a front rest, otherwise hand-held/shouldered.
Ballistic and his buddies are driving nails, too, at longer ranges.
This place is tree and brush city, so I’m zeroed at 40 yds. It’s still great at 60, but I need to drive somewhere flat and treeless for longer range practice.
Uh, that looks great to me Bogs! I take it that your 500 is accurate as well as producing 80+ shots?
I spoke with the guy at AOA last year and he told me that the 500 get that many shots, but I was skeptical.
Sports fans, I believe Bogman. He just did a basic review of the FX 500. Whereas I don’t believe crosman or any of their representatives. I have more faith in our members than any “expert’. Just sayin’.

Since I don’t have a shooting vise, I was using sand bags and rabbit ears. Everything was level and the height/level remained pretty consistent, judging by the poi behind everything. But, the bags were sliding horizontally a bit and needed to be repositioned every so often (poi moved horizontally). That would account for some fps inaccuracy, since the shots were not all perfectly perpendicular. Close, but not vise close. The slower readings could easily be the result of slight angle/longer flight path. Should’ve at least duct-taped the bags down.
At some point, I’ll take it to a friend’s place who has a really nice shooting range and proper equipment. The main reason I ran this string was to get a feel for usable shot count, crude field info. It’s very possible the gun actually is tighter, maybe to a shot count around 80.
Before owning a chrony, a bench, vise, etc. didn’t seem necessary. What are some good gun vises which can hold the design range from Condor, Royale and more traditional rifle shapes and shotguns?
Seems another project is in order: Drive some thick posts into the ground and make a long, level shooting table. It’d be easier than trying to block and secure a regular table; slope’s too steep and the soil too soft. I can build it so the poi goes across the creek and into a groundhog condo!

I shoot with mine at about 15 feet out, I figure I can compute it to muzzle if necessary. That way if I have tank dump it is not a problem. I also use a plexiglass front cover because I was hitting the rea scree a lot.
WHich brings up the next point.
You need to enusre that your shooting right over the center of the screens, and that your bullet flight is level with the two screens, if it is not, ou will get a lower reading because it has a longer flight path. When I am hitting only the rear screen I am not level, and get a lower reading.

Yes you are right about to different guns. Not knocking the FX at all. I just thought they would have a reg setup that shoots a little tighter. I can put my setup in a condor tank and see if it changes the spread.
As far a price goes, you don’t need a modified condor to shoot with a reg. Etac and reg are $165.00. Yes I did modify the etac for more volume and I changed the o rings in the reg to 90d ureathane.
I shoot through the chrony anywhere from 2″ to 4′ depending on what gun. .308 I shoot 2″ sometimes when I’m worried about tank dump. I have the same chrony you do and it has taken a beating from .308 tank dumps. Most of the time I shoot around 3′ through it.

Thanks shaggy. I wanted to shoot a stink bug at 40 yds., like I did with the .22 Air Arms s510, but figured there wouldn’t be enough “splat”! The bug, if I hit it, would go through a .25 hole. BUT, I’ve been wrong before, and there are plenty of stink bugs around.
Powderburner, yes, those are consecutive shots but probably half or less than the gun/tank can deliver with great accuracy. Since I’m missing part of my right hand/wrist (accident and operation), it’s easier for me to shoot smaller target strings.
