Long Range Sooting
I have the Condor in .177 (only caliber allowed) do you have any recommendation for long distant shooting for example 120 yards?
I have recently shot some Crows at 80 yards with 10.5 grain pellets with an o-ring behind my top hat.
Has anybody got decent groups at these distances with .177 caliber? If so what would you recommend I do.

this was 22 of course ,
lets see some 177 results. don’t know why but i like 177, guess because it is all i ever had before the 22 condor.
still have two springers in 177 , and two or three handguns in 177,
just think a 177 air force would be alot of fun
here is a light tune and shot string that i played with for a while. COndor 24”,condor valve, stock condor hammer&weight
Filled to 2000,Pw 3 , top hat at .050 with .071 oring behind top hat, 14 grain pellets ,, (left to right.)

this is like 175 shots, with a .22 Condor,1300 psi left.
thats 3.98 psi per shot ,
Hi condor, how about the result?… i also only can have .177 due to rule, I am not do something to my condor just try to see in what psi there have good accuracy ….
So I measured the speed today. At PW setting 5.5/12 , 2200psi in the tank , 10.5 grains pellets, WITH an o-ring where going 1180 feet/s. So i dilled it down to 4.0/12 and I was getting 980 feet/s so i was happy with that. I then filled the tank to 3000psi and I was getting the same speeds!! (980feet/s).
So I am expecting many shots!! Although i haven’t tried how many yet.
Accuracy should also be good due to speed and consistency since extreme spread was 22 feet/s.
What sort of consistency are you people getting?
I am going to go today to a shop with a crony to test what speeds im am getting with my present set up.
I have tried to fill it to 1900psi and the accuracy was great however the shot count was not (i prefer not messing around with the top hat yet).
I am looking for 40+ shots per fill since im using an oring on a top hat however i also want consistency too.
Will filling to 2700psi reduce consistency if compered to 2200psi fill USING an o-ring??
try lowering your tophat to .65 or 70 and fill your gun to 1800 psi or even lower.you can prob do 1500 psi fill or lower since you have a .177 .you prob wont get a ton of shots but possibly accurate.i have my condor setup with a .70 tophat and 1800 psi etac with extreme valve . a full fill it will shoot barracudas in there sweet spot of 900 fps.and to shoot the jsb 18 grs at 900 i fill to 2200 psi even with the reg, i get about 25 to 30 really accurate shots even as it falls of the reg.i also think with lower psi fills frame flex is less pronounce.or i could be talking out of my ass with that .but with my gun it seems 1800 is its favorite pressure.
forget the eun jins , they sucked in 177.
I am getting about 40 shots with a 150bar fill, so im expecting around 70 (?) with a 180-190bar, when i fill my scuba tank. Ill try to take some pictures of grouping at about 70 yards next time i go to the range. I got some promising groups of about 1 Inch (windy conditions) at 55 yards with the o-ring, 10.5grain pellets, 150 bar set up.
I have recently shot some crows at about 70 yards but also lost a couple as well, dont know why(?).
So will post on here when i get the pics.
Have you done any more testing, not much info on the 177 condor around, i would like to see more data on the 177.
you really need to try any pellet that you want to shoot at differant velocity to see the peak accuracy performance of each pellet , the 10.5 shoots great in my M48 RWS right at 900 fps.
lets see some targets with the differant 177 pellets.
Yes just below the speed of sound.
What happens is not so much going above the speed of sound with your prjectile, altho there is some problems there, it is when the projectile drops below the speed of sound while in flight.
That is why 22 LR match ammo is just below the speed of sound, that is why M80 Ball ammo, US issue 7,62 ammo has a practical accuracy range of 880 yards, that is where it’s 147 grain bullet drops below the speed of sound and becomes unstable. That is why Black Powder Cartridge shooters stay below the speed of sound.
So stay below that level, or 40 to 50 FPS lower and you should do fine if your Condor likes the EJ’s.

Roachcreek
Unfortunately I cant get anything bigger than .177. So I will try what you said. I already have the Eun jins 16.1 grains. So I should get them going just below the speed of sound.
Condormaniac999,
Well the first thing I was going to suggest was to get rid of that 177, but then I see your in Cyprus and the question is can you have anything bigger?
FIrst of all. To get good accuracy at long range, you going to have to be around 1000 FPS or lower, and you need to be throwing as much weight as you can.
The problem your facing is that the Diablo pellet was never designed as a long range, i.e., 200 yard projectile, it was made to shed vleocity fast so it could be used in crowed rual and city enviorments where its design was sooned discovered to be perfect for. So after about 150 yards, or closer, your going to see it corkscrew in flight and some pellets get compeletely lost.
Now if you can go to a bigger caliber like a 22 or better yet a 25, then you have a different situation.
I personally use a solid LBT slug I cast myself, in a improved AirForce Condor vavle and with heavier springs, I have gotten groups as small as 4.5 inches at 260 yards and at that range the energy is still greater than a 25 ACP pocket pistol at the muzzle. The reason is a heavier slug than what most pellets would be for the bore, and the fact it is solid bullet design and not a Diablo design.
Now here is something to consider.
I have a Royale 400 in 22, if I shoot a 18, grain JSB diable designed pelletout of it , up to 90 yards, it is far more accurate than my 25 LBT, but once I go over 150 yards, there is no comparisom, the 25 LBT solid slug is much more accurate.
Starting to get the picture?
Can you go over .177? If not, find some Eun jin 17 grain pellets and see if they shoot as close to the speed of sound as you can get them.
Then set some cardboard out at 125 yards and start going out 20 yards further at a time until your accuracy drops off.
I hope this helps you and good luck,
Roachcreek

Thank you powderburner, unfortunatly I have no chrono so can’t do something as you have done before however today have shoot total about 400. The following is the data that I recorded to see how many shoot related to psi per fill, grouping & pw seeting.
1. Using premier ultra magnum 10.5 gr. & Rws supermag 9.3 gr.
2. Start psi 1400 end psi 500.
3. Pw 0, 2/16, 4/16.
4. Use silencer due to avoid neighbord call police..LOL that is way start psi is 1400 since silencer doesn’t work in about 1800 psi.
5. All factory standard.
6. 10 yrds distance, no wind
7. 5 shoot every record for grouping.
Result.
1. Pw 0.
A. 80 shoot.
B. grouping min 1/8 in 600 psi max 4/8 in 1100 psi.
2. Pw 2/16
A. 80 shoot.
B. Grouping min 2/8 max 4/8, mostly 2/8 with premier.
3. Pw 4/16
A. 85 shoot.
B. Grouping min 1/8 in 900 psi max 3/8, mostly 2/8 with premier.
From my point of view, there no change number of shoot with drop 900 psi. Premier pellet seem suitable for my condor even get bit pain in my thumb.. :)…
If using chrono will get more info about my condor.
Cheers
1. Pw 0, 80 shoot,
