TT TSS .22 @ 50 yrds

Today at the range, best two 5 shot groups w/ 18.13gr JSBs below. Shotshells at 50yrds were a piece of cake. At 100yrds, I was 4/6. Not bad for a 12″ barrel.

Nothing wrong with stock per se if it’s a shooter. Mine served me well stock for 10 years before the mods.

I took my .22 Talon SS out to the range today while helping a friend get his Air Wolf sighted in. I did some shooting for groups after about an hour and a half in 80 degree muggy weather, so I wasn’t at my freshest and having two guys blasting away on either side with ARs added to the fatigue factor even with double ears. You can see by the movement of the tall grass behind the target that there was a little bit of a breeze kicking up too (excuses, excuses I know :roll:).

I shot these two five shot groups, not my best, but not bad considering it’s a 12″ barrel and the 18.13gr JSB Exact pellets were not rolled or sorted and I was just shooting off a bipod on the bench. The limitation was me today, the gun can shoot tighter (see above ;)). On a “good day”, I can cover my best 5 shot groups @ 50yrds with a dime, not a quarter.

I took some 60fps video using my iPhone 4S through my spotting scope using SloPro app, but I stopped after the first group because my iPhone was getting extremely hot. You can hear my friend shooting his Air Wolf with Huggett between some of my shots if you listen carefully :).

I’m not going to win any FT matches, but I think it does show what you can expect even on a bad day. I know my TSS is laser beam accurate and dialed in at its 35yrd zero, but it’s always fun to shoot at longer distances.

My Talon SS is about 10 years old and has the stock 12″ AF barrel, original delrin bushing style with only 2 bushing screws in the frame. The gun has the following mods:

WalkonKing custom aluminum trigger shoe

The TT valve has contributed to the accuracy considerably, it is much more consistent than the AF stock valve.

After my recent trip to the range, I have noticed that best long range accuracy (50-100yrds) in my Lothar Walther barrel starts to drop off after 150-200 or so shots when the barrel must start to get fouled. A Patchworm kit with Ballistol soaked patches then clean patches does the job, then it settles in again after a half dozen shots.
