I shot more sub MOA groups today with the 2 Royales
Than I have shot total with the AirForce rifles in the 2 and a half years I have owned them.
I took the 400 and the 500 out this morning and shot only at 100 yards. I had only shot the 400 at 100 yards one time for one group while checking Chairgun, the group was not that good and I just assumed the Royale 400 ran out of accuracy past 90 yards. I had shot it a lot at 260 yards oddly enough.
It shot sub moa groups easily as does the 500. I shot 3/4 inch with both rilfes. At times the first three shots would be touching, I should have stopped on those groups leaving them at 3 shots and copyrighted the bragging rights, but I did not.
I am really pleased with the way these Royales shoot.
I am shooting off of Caldwell bags on the top of a grape bin. I put my left hand on the comb of the stock, that seems to lock the gun in very well.
I shot until my fingers got so cold I could not load the rifles anymore.

And I need to get that length issue fixed, perhaps Tof can give me the name of that gunsmith of his that shortened his Rapid.
It would be an easy fix I think, I assume the brass breech section of the barrel unscrews or perhaps is epoxied in, and the shroud is expoxied on the ferrel, so shortening both, putting a 400 tank on, turn up the power and you have a shortened Royale 500.
I was shooting it again this afternoon at 40 yards. It is the sort of gun if one shot goes out of the hole for hole it is a mistake on my part.
The 4×16 sidewinder I got with it went on the 25 LBT. Sighted in at 150 yards, the gun will hit my 260 yard metal target on 8 power using the lowest rung on the SR6 reticle, At least that is what the BBR progam tells me.. If the wind dies down this evening I am going to give that a try.

Awesome RC. Would put a lot of PBs to shame at 100yrds! Can’t wait to see what happens once the weather clears.
You definitely got a keeper (actualy 2 keepers). Just wish the 500 was as nice and compact as the 400. The length of the 500’s barrel + shroud is like having a curtain rod hanging off the front of your rifle…

so far in my FX corner I have accumlated a .22 Monsoon, Revolution, an Independence and lastly the .25 500
they are all more accurate than I and each quite reliable
to be frank, I am not all anal about printing paper except to range in a freshly mounted optic
after that it’s mostly bouncing beer cans which is a challange at a 100 yards with a rimfire…takes careful shot placement just under the can but it is even harder using an air gun of much lower impulse
yeah I’m a reactive guy…shooting at paper just bores me to tears
when I used to shoot at a 1000 yards it was knock downs fashioned out of steel plate
I see the 500 as a superb rifle to zap shit out to 100 yards and potentially a bit beyond…if the shit hit the fan and I was at my cabin I could keep plenty of meat in the stew pot in the form of Doves, Crow, Gulls, ect as they are thick up there. It’s quiet and economical.
don’t know what to think of the current QC “issues”…my 500 like yours functions to perfection, then again both of our guns are just slightly “older”. Mismarking wouldn’t freak me out, it’s not uncommon for the vaunted MAC1 LD to have runs and sags in the repaint…mine did as did two others I have seen yet I am the only one to have mentioned this “defect” and it really didn’t bother me much, easy fix
The bottle touching shroud issue sounds like something that is easily correctable, no should not have left FX in that condition, actually it may not have…if FX shipped it that way then it should have been caught by the importer AoA…
The pellet tray issue?
I find it hard to believe that even if they changed CNC tooling that such trouble would erupt without being caught…it is after all program driven machining…now a couple have reported bad shit countered by a couple posting positives in the same new production range…very odd indeed
guess I am pleased I bought a tested used one rather than opting for new car smell as others on the Yellow argue is the only way 😉
