Q:

80 shots on paper w/ Royale 500

After running the .25 cal through a chrony, I wanted to see what shot count the 500 w/ regulator did on paper. This is NOT an accuracy pic, since I was experimenting with different holds and positions. It does show that at least 75-80 shots are accurate off one tank fill, which was a bit under max at 218 bar. Ending pressure-138 bar. After shot 75, I ran out of targets and drew on the pizza box above the paper. The last three, shots 1-3 (81-83) were drifting off due to low tank pressure. Range was 40 yds. All pellets unsorted and were out of the rotary magazine.

A front rice bag was used, otherwise-hand shouldered. For my best groups, reasonably firm thumbhole grip, light downward pressure and bracing with hand on fore grip and very light shoulder tuck. Groups #13 & #14 were with pretty firm holds all around = not good. Some groups are a bit ragged since the box was getting pretty worn out.

If prospective Royale 500 buyers can’t find a used gun, make sure you find someone at the distributor who will personally look out for the defects Ballistic and friends experienced, and that it operates mechanically. Let them know you’ll send it back and dispute credit card charges immediately if they send a lemon. Have them check any magazine or tray function, too. So far, I’m lovin’ this rifle and have no issues.

My main complaint is that it probably won’t set off a Tannerite (major exploding) target. 😛

Since you might cause mischief cutting off either end, I’d cut out a section in the middle 😛

Interested in seeing how it comes out. Should be a lot handier for sure. Cut the wrong end off and you’ll have a Smooth barrel without the “Twist”.

Bogman and Ballistic,

I have mine disassembled and the shroud tube and barrel in a shipping tube.

I have sold my 500 bottle and ordered a 400 bottle.

Any idea where this is headed? ❓

I am going to have the barrel and shroud shortened to either 19.5 inches or 21 inches for the barrel and maybe 10 inches on the shroud. Then I will use the 400 bottle. 💡

I love the gun, just too long after experiencing the Royale 400.

I do realize that it will loose velocity and be a bit louder, perhaps, but I have had it up to 950 FPS and it did that easily, so I think I will have no problem getting 890 FPS out of it after bobbing it.

So do you think I should have th emuzzle end or the breech end cut off? 😛

Regards,

Roachcreek

bogman,

Outstanding accuracy, consistency and shot count. That’s a gun you can just pick up and be confident that it’s going to be dead on when you need it, and that you can take into the woods hunting without having to worry about refilling.
