graphite is (technically) supposed to be corrosive to Al, but i guess ive never heard any complaints.

I use moly graph grease and it works fine.

i have one of d100s early aluminum breeches, kinetic energy transfer is notably better, but if you go metallic, youll need to lube with a fluorocarbon based grease, as silicone is crap lubing metal on metal and it is hpa safe…

I have an aluminum one on my .308 and it dose not touch the frame and is a side cocker and it has no problems sliding. I use black grease on it and I dont care if I mess up orings. There cheap as dirt and there easy to changes. If u go brass or stainless or any heavey metal u need to cut it down and lighten it if there to heavey u will tank dump.

Can I use silicon grease to lube the stock breech?

yep scratch that lol.ill stick with stock. if it aint broke dont fix it.thanks guys for you input.ill just get a new one piece brass hammer, now i dont know if i want one that rides on the barrel ,or a normal one that rides frame like from TT.

I am a big advocate of using Delrin for the bolt.

Just a side note

Metal bolts result in metal dust in your frame.

Think about it

I have one I made out of brass and I love it. It is just a hair tighter than the stock one so I think it seals a little better and the cocking handle seems more stable.

The only down side Is I also have a hammer made out of brass also and when they come together it is a little louder. Other than that it cocks and works great.

And it looks very impressive.

I made some. They seem to work fine on stock guns where you are not preloading the hammer spring. I have one on my .22 that I shoot with a 1500 psi reg and it works fine. I tried one on my .25 with heavy hammer spring and I had problems. I also had one on my .308 and made a delrin with aluminum shell over it for safety. Delrin works real good and when I make one I make them with like .001″-.002″ clearance on the barrel. The gun cocks real nice. With aluminum you have to use real grease because silicone has no anti wear in it. Stay with delrin.

Brass works ok but it still has problems sliding on the barrel. It is also way to heavy and caused tank dump on my .308. If a breech is done right it should never touch the frame because they are .050″ smaller than the ID of the frame.

personally the stocker has always been just fine for me, I just keep the orings lubed and replace them every year or so..

there are some that run metal breaches and I’m not too sure if it’s just a custom and looks type thing or not, I would tend to think the extra mass or weight of them would restrict things that would need to compensated with more preload on the main spring… but I’m not too sure on that, it may work just the opposite … idk

I do know that aluminum does not like to slide against its self, so brass would be the better option, or perhaps bronze.
