"The answer is blowing in the wind"

I took the two Royales and the detuned 25 LBT carbine out today to shoot at 50, 100 and 150 yards.

The wind was whipping the wind flags around in every direction it seemed but all the guns did well at 50 yards, the Royale 500 best group was .50 at 15 power, the 2nd place winner was the 25 LBT shooting the 56 grain bullets at 780 FPS with a 2×7 power scope. It shot .50 for a three shot group that I wisely stopped at thee shots for and a 5 shot group that was .9.

Moving to 100 yards, the wind picked up a lot. THe Royales were not likeing the wind and stringing the shots horizontally 2.5 to 3 inches. THe 400 shot about 2 inches flatter at 100 yards than the 500.

The 25 LBT carbine put 5 shots into a tight 1.25 inches again with the little 2×7 scope.

Next I moved out to 150 yards on the metal clad target.

The wind died down some, but it still pushed the groups on the Royales 8 inches to the left, the Royale 400 shot a 2 inch group for 5 shots again with a 15 power scope, and the 25 LBT carbine shot a 3.25 5 shot group with the little Burris scope, but it dropped a whopping 48 inches.

I am chomping at the bit to get my Leupold VXIII 4.5x14x40 30 MM LR/Hollands reticle back from Leupold with the M1 knobs, that with Dougs side wheel, mounted on the 25 LBT 23 inch rifle pushing the 56 grain bullets at 1030 FPS is going to be the MIA Supermatch of airguns. With a 50 yard zero it only drops 25 inches at 150 yards, with a 70 yard zero it is very flat shooting to 90 yards and will still have enough MOA reticle to shoot to 150 yards.

Its going to be a nice summer.
