Finially got my Leupold long range scope set up like I want
I just got this back from Leupold, a VXIII 4.5×14 LR 30 MM SF with the Holland retilce. I was having M1 turrents put on it for $130.
Leupold installs the reticle for Hollands but only Hollands can sell it as he owns the IP property. He wants $1250 for the scope with the reticle and puts it in other high end scope, this scope is the cheapest one he does it to.
Dayotat made me the side wheel which I Alumahyde finished and cured for the 4 weeks the scope was away at Leupold to get M1 turrents.
It has 106 MOA of adjustment. So I can reach way out there with the 25 LBT. Sighted in for 70 yards the reticle takes me from 70 yards to 160 yards the 25 LBT rifle incredably flat from 0 to 70 with only 2 inches of arc to the trajectory.
This is what my reticle looks like, the top and sides are mils and the drop function is in MOA, mine is a 24 MOA instead of the 30 like this one.
Sighted in at 70 I still have over 80 minutes of elevation left. So I should be able to dial right on to hit my 260 yard target.
I have to rebuild the 260 yard 1/16 inch steel clad target, the 25 LBT has made it look like swiss cheese, I pick up the 3/16th steel 3×4 plate today.
New with a Dayotat sidewheel and turrents this wuld be pushing $1500., I got the scope used for 580 dollars so I have about $700 in it.
It Weights under 16 ounces, is just over a foot long so for a 30 mm scope it is small.
Two ways to get scope dope with this reticle, one is with a ballistic program, just see the drop from your zero, do the math, ie 150 yards 24 inches of drop would be the 16 setting on the reticle, and record it. 2nd and more accurate way is to shoot at a piece of painted steel at various distances, hold on the top of the sheet of painted steel and after you shoot match the impact with the reticle and record it

I went out this morning and shot the 25 LBT on the 150 yard target, the 100 yard target and the 40 yard target.
I have my veleocity set at 930 FPS.
Sighted in at 40, I am 7 inches low at 100 yards and 32 inches low at 150.
Now if you refernce the above retilce that means that I hold on the mark between the 6 MOA and the 8 MOA for 100 yards, for 150, you hold on the 21 MOA mark, for 160 you would hold on the heavy duplex.
If I sight in for 75 yards, the trajectory would never be higher or lower than 2 inches out to 90 yards, the 100 yard holdover would be the 3 MOA and the 150 yard would be the 18 MOA and the heavy duplex would be 180 yards.
