I rarely go anywhere, not counting trips to Palm Dessert for golfing
Well a life long bud of mine talked me into going up to the Eastren Sierras and I am sure glad he did
Holy shit, this place is God’s Country to say the least
Granted the weather was a bit windy, the view was unbelievable!!!
Check out this shit, and yes thats me, holding the fish, Ha, 6″ of fast stream those rainbows came from, wouldn’t believe it myself, but that is where they came from, Wow to say the least

Actually Convict was super windy, we hit the Lake in Bridgeport, Twin Lakes, upper and Lower, Virginia was still frozen, some other one, forgot the name, then the creeks, thats where we caught them 😛 😛
The wind was kinda a bummer, had a great time though 😆 😆
I think later in the summer or early fall would be nice.
Saturday it was 20 deg. out 😯 😯 , much better once the sun came up.

Yep air was a bit thin 8500′, but I tell ya the smell of the forest
and the fact no smog was impressive

Wow…Saw, you are definitely the “go to” man for trout. That’s God’s country for sure. However, that air looks mighty thin!
I used to fish with bamboo fly rods when I was a kid. They were always about 8′ to 9′ long, and didn’t hold up too well. I always broke the tips off. My employer gave me a new hollow fiberglass fly rod right after they came out. I still have it. It was expensive as hell. Back then you couldn’t touch one for less than $40.00! The bamboo’s ran around $5.00 to $10.00 by comparison.

I sure miss the Rockies…Grew up in North Idaho and we used to catch brook trout, cut throat trout, rainbows, dolly vardens, brown trout etc etc etc…sure miss the mountains and the fresh air and the FISHIN”!!
Hey Saw…I tie flies. If you got a fly rod and you fly fish, I’d be happy to send you a couple of custom, hand tied flies 😈 I have some size 32 flies that I’ve tied…NOT for use… just to look at…tied ’em with no magnification 😈 (not for sale on those either 😉 )
Oh by the way…have you tried out those planes yet? 😀 Just curious to how they’re workin’ for ya… 🙄

Had a chance to roam the Sierras for a week or so several years ago, hiking and camping with my wife. Sequoia, King’s Canyon, Yosemite, Tuolumne and Mammoth Lake area. Truly a special area.
And nice fish, too. Some time ago someone here made an analogy between flyfishing and airgunning. Give it a shot. Have been dabbling at it since my early teens and am trying to get my kids into it now. Good fun.
