Q:

Stripped Grub Screws on Tophat – Help

Hey bros,
I know I’m the only one to ever do this, but I stripped the hex fitting on one my tophat grub screws. Any spiffy ways to get it out without fucking up the tophat threads?
Thanks

just got off the phone with airforce and paided my bill for retro fitting my tanks it was only $31.40 per tank with a $30.00 labor fee and $19.00 for shipping if you send your gun and tanks all in together you only pay the $30.00 labor fee once not on each item. so i sent in 2 tanks and my bill was only $110.00 so i am very happy about that. hope this info helps you guys

good to hear glad you got it fixed

Grub screws out. Tophat threads salvaged. Thanks to all for the tips.

Tulsa – I hear ya bro. Can’t have too many spare parts.

Call AF and order the parts.

My advice to everyone that owns one of these airguns is to have spares on hand. I have three AF rifles. I learned sometime ago, to have plenty of spares on hand.

Spares I keep on hand

Breech (bolt) x2
top hat and stem x1
Derlin valve seat x1
O Rings (all of them) x3
Trigger screws (ever dropped one of these??)
Misc set screws

Just sayin……

your still under warranty ship the tank back to airforce and shoot co2 till then and upgrade it to a spin-loc while they have it lol i just sent both my tanks to them today to upgrade them to spin-loc tanks 😀

Pull valve stem from valve…
Heat that sucker up with a propain torch
Them screws will then loosen up..

If not, a call to Af, parts cheap

you can try an ez out, or a left handed drill bit, or you can try to softly tap the next bigger size allen wrench into it, but your best bet would be to supper glue or epoxy the allen to the screw. Just be very carful not to use too much and make things worse by gluing the screw to the top hat
