RWS 350 Pro
Just took this in on a trade. Fellow said it was too much for bird feeder duty so I traded an RWS 34 for it.
Got it today and was pleasantly surprised! A little nose heavy with that big can on it, but helps to balance for offhand shooting.
Weather not cooperating so I shot a few over the chrony… giving me right at 850fps with 14.3gr Premiers. Around 23fpe.
I then threw a cheap scope on it and set up a target at 37 yards. Luckily, I never had to adjust the scope to get it on paper… and it’s pretty well on as is, but I fired out the first and only group with it. No practice shots, no pellet testing.
Not too shabby. The last three shots ended up in the ragged hole as I figured out the feel of the trigger. First two a bit off, but all in all, for a magnum springer at near 40 yards, I’ll take it.

I will say that the 34 I traded for this gun was difficult to shoot out of the box… when I had Paul Watts shorten the barrel and rechoke and crown it, groups shrank dramatically… so perhaps you’re on to something with the shorter barrels on the RWS guns.
One of my more accurate springers only has about a 9.5 inch barrel on it… TX200HC…
It looks like a shorter barrel is helpfull on the RWS rifles Too.
I had mine (standard 350 mag )tuned by John in PA , and ihe did a fine job with it . I couldnt hit crap with mine out of the box.
My experience was the same with the regular 350… but this one… either the fellow who tuned it did a really good job, or the 350 Pro Compact is just easier to shoot. I dont know. I’ve not shot a 350 Pro untuned so I cant compare….
but yes.. the regular 350… I could duplicate those groups at 20-25… but never at near 40.
Yeah, that was an awesome trade! I had a 350 but I couldnt get groups like that at 37 yards, 20 25 maybe. Tough guns to tame.
Yeah, I think everyone here knows I like my springers… but I realize they are not for everyone.
the can… i havent taken it off to see if it’s baffled or not, but comparing it to other springers I have, I cannot tell that it makes a difference at all. I had originally meant to remove it, but it does balance the gun out nicely.
Recoil is very linear. This gun has been lube tuned… no ‘goose honking’ while cocking and no twisting motion at all upon firing. Just a solid linear thunk.
It’s as quiet as any tuned springer to be honest. Not a lot of mechanical noise. No twang at all. I’ve never known the RWS guns to be particularly twangy. HW spring guns are far worse. I had an HW98 that was WAY twangy… didnt affect velocity or accuracy in the least, but was just twangy.

I’m sending my worn-out RWS 48 for a rebuild after 20+ years; it’s off mark quite a bit. I’m going to see if it will throw JSBs.
Been toying with getting another RWS .22 to keep in the truck. Riding around w/ 3,000 psi tanks beside me makes me a bit nervous, in case of an accident. Anyway, the 350 Pro looks like a good deal. I was hoping you were using the Premier HP pellets, too. The speeds you’re getting look great for those, glad the barrel likes ’em.
A few more questions, if you don’t mind:
The can up front, is this to quiet the gun? (I.E. is it hollow w/ baffles, vents?)
What’s the recoil like?
How quiet is it, spring noise included?

I do think the RWS guns are great for the money and try to direct new shooters to them rather than the Gamo offerings. Built like a tank and while some can be pellet picky, typically they are not.
The 350 is a break barrel spring piston. I had the opportunity to do a short review once on a regular 350, the long barrel version and it was ok… a bit long and a bit awkward… and that particular one was pellet picky like crazy.
This new version with the short barrel is nice. Makes cocking it a bit harder, but nothing overbearing.
I was really pleased with that as a first group; especially considering that I really wasnt having a good ‘shooting’ day. Too much coffee and I was quite shaky. Pellets used were regular Premier hollow points from WalMart, a big plus that this gun seems to like the cheapie pellets.
Wow Rob! That’s damn nice for a first 5 @ 37yds. Is the RWS a spring piston, side lever? You shooting HP Premiers?
Despite their weight, I’m a fan of RWS guns, sturdy, well designed, reliable and accurate. You just need a comfortable sling to carry them around! Looks like the stock is a beauty.
Please post some groups after you’ve gotten to shoot it awhile. Looks promising!
