Yes the very First WORLD AIRGUN FEDERATION cage fight.
The American Talon SS vs the Daystate Air Wolf and the Edgun in a 3 way brawl, inside a 47 yard fence, who will win?
1 st up is the Daystate Airwolf .25 pounds
“HOWARD”, well Wolfie, whats the story.
Well Howard, the top 2 groups are using Benji 27.8 grainers.
The 2 lower groups were my first time ever Using JSB 25.4’s.
I think it demonstrates that the JSB’s are for me, and its also interesting to note the POI shift a few grains makes.
On to the Talon SS and Edgun.
“Howard”, Well SS whats your story.
Well Howard, I’m a real light weight only at .22 pounds. But I have been in the ring, being worked with for about a year. I only have a 12″ U know what, but have had many of my internals repaired. I have been Etac’d, Reg’d and can only throw a punch at 830fps. This was done using 15.9 JSB’s, seemed to work pretty good foe me. I’m not sure if I prefer these over the 18.1’s, more training needed.
I’m happy with my performance, pretty good match for me.

Thanks Howard, You know I’m the new kid on the block, I’m a light weight at .22 pounds. I just came out of rehab for a broken butt, its better now, but my feelings still are hurt. My new trainer of only a few weeks has not had enough time to spend with me, he has been feeding me JSB 15.9 grainers, He knows I prefer JSB 18.1, some crap about not being able to get any. Some car repair at SAFELITE 😆
I’m just to strong for those 15.9’s, I’m spitting em out at 970, I will do better next time using my prefered 18.1’s.
Besides all of the above, they turned the giant fans on just when I did that group on the right, too much wind.
My manager is working on that now…
The judges agree, those dummies turned on the big fans. Eddie gets a 2nd shot at it.

I’m waiting on my JSB .25 cal Exact pellets to come in before I chrony and do some real subjective target shooting. Although it’s not been said that JSB pellet in .25 caliber is the optimal pellet. I just going to assume it is.
ED also has pointed out that you need to shoot 400-500 pellets to season the barrel before you get best accuracy.

Edgun: What!?! And have all those kids running around?
If your shooting those in the wind, you have proved nothing other than the wind blows pellets. Period.
A shooter who can shoot good groups in the wind, is showing he can judge the effect of the wind on the shot and compensate for it.
To fully and absolutely understand what pellet your rifle likes, you need to shoot in absolute still conditions or on a 50 yard or longer inside range.

MR newb, you know i think the edgun and others are fully capable of shooting the 14 ,16 ,and 18 grain to the same degree of accuracy, the differant pellets just like a differant velocity for the most part. if a guy wanted to adjust the velocity to the pellet
I have been trying to figure out if my gun likes one or the other since 2009 , and i haven’t ruled either of the three out yet, they just seem to shoot to the better degree of accuracy at differant velocities.
guess thats why i like the condor so much , i can adjust the velocity to each pellet pretty easy.
Life without challenges could get boring if you let it.
Hell, I decided to pull a shot today just to prove my rifle was working.
Wouldn’t you know it, the wind picked up and blew it off course and smack dab, right in the same damn hole 😥
Yes the wind picked up, I agree 47 yards ain’t nothin for a good pcp.
The Edgun is new to me, perhaps there is a poi shift between 200 bar and 190, I don’t know for sure. Have not put enough pellets through it yet.
The Edgun was shooting 15.9’s when we all know the 18.1’s are the ticket.
This was the first time the Daystate shot JSB’s, I was in the past just shooting old stock, Benji 27.8’s. Besides the Daystate had a crummy old Leapers 6×9 scope on it..just to play
Too early to tell and once I get some 18.1’s, Ill shoot a string or 2 over the crony.
But I agree not the greatest, shooting off kitchen table, little gun stand.
Nice story you put down there but I have some questions…
My opinion is that every good PCP should shoot a lot tighter groups at 47 yards.
I’ve shot a lot of pcp’s (Daystate AW, AA S510, AA S410, Edgun, TM 1000, HW100, …) at 50m (55 yards) and they ALL shot 1 hole slightly bigger then the pellet size itself.
So was this shot outside? Lot of wind? In a bench or just standing?

Which gun do you enjoy shooting the most , is there one that shoots tighter more consistantly.
Well I like my Talon ss, but I think 50 yards is about its limit, for such groups. It gets about 45-50 reg’ed shots. It really is shooting very well right where it is at.
Air Wolf, I would expect it to hold onto these kinda groups for a longer distance. But it is a big heavy gun, my arms would be sore after a long walk in the woods. Gets 60+ shots
The Edgun, nice and small, would be much easier to carry around in the woods. Should get 90+ shots.
The Edgun is to new to me, only had 2 weeks, 200-300 pellets through it, and not even shooting the correct pellet.
I hope the Edgun is my favorite, just because of its size, but too early to tell. I think the Airwolf looks better..more classical style gun..
We will find out at the next cage fight..at longer ranges.
I have a couple contenders for you, the two Royale twins, the reigning champions of Sweden.
In the welterweight division the last match was a TKO for the FX Royale 400 with 18.1 JSB’s wit this 50 yard group in the .3’s.
The FX Royale 500 was fighting in the Heavyweight division but has lost weight and toned up and is now fighting in the Crusiser weight division. He is now in training camp at AOA and getting some spirit, an Elite regulator today.
But if you ever want to go 12 rounds or 150 yards this is your man to beat.
From the Snunshine Vineyard camp the .25 LBT at 150 yards, four 5 shot groups averaging 2.5.

Looking like each of the three guns shot about the same on the tighter of the groups for each gun , is this how you see Mr Newbie.

I’ll try to validate your findings with my .22 TSS and .25 Air Wolf MCT. I just need an Edgun though, if someone want’s to send me one double-boxed ;).

Im curious if anyone with a .25 Edgun has tried the Benjiman Domed pellets?
They work REALLY well in my Condor, much better than JSB at longer ranges.
I know Ed tuned his rifles for JSB, but if it were me I would give the benji a chance.
