FUCK… SHIT… FUCK!!!!
I just stripped out the low gears on the lathe… trying to rush this morning to finish everyone up and looks like I didn’t have the the gears engaged all the way… FUCK!!! I got into the controls and played with the torque and speed settings truing to get things finished, but it looks like I’ll just smoke the motor doing things that way….. looks like I’m down for a bit, If anyone wants a full refund I will be happy to do so…. I will send out p/m’s and emails to all customers on the list informing them of my fuck up…

Workin’ on the metal lathe…awww yeahhh.
she’s almost back together… just had to take a break to do some refresher reading on some of the backlash adjustments…. took some pics of it all and will try to get them up later 😉
got any tips for me? I have the transmission housing off, but I haven’t taken the shafts out yet to get to the gears. what parts are pressed?

If your down to the shaft thats were it gets interesting. Yours could be easier to deal with, but I had to place some wood blocks around the edge of the shaft housing creating a void underneath to drive the center out with a hammer and another wood block.
It was a real education. If yours is this way go slow and methodical working opposite sides as you drive it out and be mindful of your bearings.
Post some pics for us. Others smarter than me may have some better ideas.

btw…off topic, but what did you use to fill the PW gap on the airarcher conversion?

Been there, done that. Why put plastic gears in something like that 🙄
The housing is press fit together. Not a lot of fun to get apart.
just got it torn down and a set of metal gears ordered… I should be back up and running by next weekend unless I get deployed to a wild fire…
