AA S510 Carbine FAC… Pics and Chrony numbers

I’ve been away for some time pursuing other interests but everything comes back full circle so I’m slowly getting back into the airgun scene again. I just picked up a new AA S510 Carbine FAC w/ Walnut Thumbhole Stock and a BSA Flash light/ Red Laser combo kit. I was looking at the other brands but after a long and hard decision making I came back to the AA products. The S510 Carbine FAC just fits my needs. I know the product very well, my version weights in at 6.5lbs and with a Trophy 3-9x40mm scoped and mounts weight exactly 8lbs. Most important is the air rifle just feels really good in my hands and well balanced compared to my full size S410 Xtra FAC. The S510 Carbine is perfect for in the field use. The numbers are very nice so this one is going to be kept bone stock… no tinkering with this one. Can’t decide right now if I’ll maintain my S410 Xtra FAC with the installed regulator set for approx 27ft/lb OR bring it completely back to factory configuration???? Lots of time to decided…

If so, only because the rifle has a longer barrel and each inch of barrel gives you about 50 fps gain.

I have both the full size S410 and the carbine S510.

If I’m just shooting off a table then the full length is not a problem.

Too carry it around and easy manageability the carbine is light and the perfect size and weight.

Hi, i know that this is and old Post.
But im very interested in know more about the performance of this airgun. Because today i make an order by amazon, but i`m hesitate between the carbina or rifle.

I want to know how many shots get at high power.
Do you have a shot string ??? Sorry but i cant see the images in the post

Took her apart for a good cleaning, de-burred the power knob air port, replace a crushed washer and polished the hammer guide rod and valve stem. Re-Chronied but added a muzzle break for a more accurate reading. Muzzle placed 18″ in front of Chrony.

Roc,

I would just try shooting 20 feet off the chrony first, and make sure your “eyes” on the chrony are not chippped from short rounds and getting premautre readings.

Remember there are few dynamics that can be carried on from PB’s to AG’s other than something painful comes out the end.

Your guns may in fact be that fast, one of the things I have learned in life is I don’t have all the answers, shit I am not sure of the questions most of time.

But those are outstanding/unusual readings for AA S400/500 rifles and carbines.

When I got my Ranger 45, I got readings that were way out of character for the rifle and only after much discussion with the make did I realize my chrony tecniques were wrong, but that was me not you.

I trust chronies about as much as I trust elected officials.

Huh??? What do you mean???

Honestly, they are known for being anemic with terribly inefficient vavles That is the highest I have ever heard of one shooting, I don’t think the rifles shoot that hard.

You could be recording the speed of the airblast.

But I have had just the one, however others experience have led me to believe mine was not a slow one.

I did record one string in the low 900’s. but it proved to be a chrony problem.

I’ll give it a try but not sure if it’s air blast (I could be wrong). Having said that my chrony method has been the same for my S410 from the beginning before the reg installation and IIRC the number where in line with other numbers/shot string I have read off other forums. Chrony setup is in my basement so distance is limited. I could back away another foot or two.

I may try what the matches do and place a “blast board” in front of the chrony with a hole cut out for the pellet to travel through.

I have never heard of a carbine 410 shooting that fast. Mine was close for a while until I discovered my chrony was reading high.

Nope… not my chrony, it’s the same chrony I use to test my 9mm rounds for IPSC. My power factor has to be correct or I’m up s**t creek if I don’t pass their chrony test at the Level 3 matches I compete in. Hate to spend $130 a match to find out I shoot for NO points.

Maybe the batch of S510 Carbine from the local store I bought it from was a lucky batch… The owner has one and on their website they printed the power to be 35+ ft/lbs. Kind of matches the the results I’m getting.

Anyhow, I plan to do another set of number because of the shot string I got for the 16gr pellets. Chrony is placed a foot and a half in front of the muzzle underneath incandescent light bulb.
