Q:

Help with POI changes……

I’ve tried several different fill pressures..3000,2700,2500 and I still get poi changes after about 8-12 shots. I’ve tried JSB’s, CP’s, Barracudas, etc. They will group for a little then some shots go, left, right, up ,and down. They will kind of group with changes. It’s just like nothing I’ve experienced with other pcp’s. What kind of shot string can I get running the wheel on 6? I’m going to borrow a chrony and see if that is a issue as well. It’s a Talon SS in .22.

Some AF guns just do that, as the air pressure changes so does your POI.

Sometimes with individual rifles finding the POI for a given air pressure range and then sticking to it is all you can do.

I am assuming you can in fact shoot and your equipment is solid, it is just that these rifles are sensitive to air pressure and hold pressure.

My brand new Talon SS does the same thing but being new to airguns and shooting in general I just figured it was me with a lousy aim. I pump the tank to 2800 PSI and shoot off a string of about 8 shots and pretty much hit a dime at 30 yards with all of them. Then, it often goes low right by about an inch, stays there for maybe 4 shots, and then comes back on target. I’ll also get other ‘consistent’ deviations for a few shots at random intervals. I don’t have a chrony and don’t know at what pressures the changes occur. Frustrating since I don’t know if it is me or the gun and if it is me what the heck I am doing differently when they ‘miss’.

I had a similar problem. It turned out that the scope rings just couldn’t do the job. I picked up a set of BKL 1″ Rings, 11mm Dovetail, Double Strap, Matte Black and the problem went away. I highly recommend thes rings. Well made, very strong and they look great on AF guns.
