Q:

MacGyver a Bi-Pod Mount

Well I screwed up and ordered something that wasn’t what I thought it was. Ended up perfect for a slightly different application.
I ordered this Harris #6 Bi-Pod adapter http://swfa.com/Harris-6-Bipod-Adapter-P40142.aspx when I ordered the http://www.harrisbipods.com/HBRS.html
I have a friend that is going to make a 11mm dovetail rail adapter so I can mount the bi-pod in front of the hand rest. A week went by and I started
looking at this useless piece and the inside of the rest. Found that it fit down inside almost perfectly. Rounded the front corners and drilled the
two holes. Fitted long screws to it and tightened them up in a vice. Took a propane torch and heated the bar till it barely started to glow.
Then pulled the rest up,into contact with the hot piece and let it melt into it till it was almost flush. Let it cool and counter sunk the two holes.

Oh and something I fingered out this weekend was if you clock the air tank ring around with Tony’s angle adapter I could get a better good look through the scope without craning my neck as much.

Well It’s done. Time involved these would cost a couple hundred each. It slips onto the dove tail and has a piece of stainless between it and the rail so the allen screws don’t go into the slot. Once tightened very solid. Not yet sure if it’s a better place then the forward hand rest.

I’m also still waiting. He’s been sickly. The one I posted has worked well so far, but I’m thinking the chunk of metal on the dove tail should be stronger. All it would take to go back almost to stock is unscrewing the swivel stud. I used this this weekend and it worked fine.

Hey Finch……… Let me know how it turns out… I’m STILL looking for an Airforce bi-pod OR a way to mount my Harris bi-pod…..

Hopefully this week I’ll get my friend to cut an 11 mm dovetail in a piece of 1″ by 1/4 ” AL I bought yesterday. Then I’ll cut into 3″ or so pieces. This should make a nice soild mount for the bi-pod. The piece is 9′ long so I might have extra 😯

Nice.

That looks pretty solid.

I’m currently adapting from AF to picatinny, then from picatinny to bipod adapter mount. Its makes the setup so top heavy its ridiculous.

Nice work 😀

Nicely done. Looks great.

Very nice! :thumb: :thumb:
