Q:

Newbie Condor questions

I have a couple (and maybe stupid) newbie questions about the condor. I’ve had this AAA Condor a few months and think it’s time I learn how to maintain it.

About lubing the breech seal o-rings and hammer… can this be done without taking the rifle apart? Or do I need to remove the foam off the cocking knob, unscrew metal knob, remove barrel, etc?

Actually, in order to unscrew the cocking knob (off the breech slide), what tool do you use and which direction does one turn it to get it off?

Here’s another question (that shows my ignorance)….There’s this little hex screw on the power indicator (1-13). This is the little screw that moves to the right or left when you turn the powerwheel up or down. Is this screw supposed to be tightened all the way down? Or is there an optimal position of this screw? What does it do when you turn this screw counterclockwise or clockwise?

If one removes the safety, will that affect the “light and breaks like glass” feel of the trigger? I should of had Tony remove the trigger when he asked me if I wanted to keep it or not.

I put lube on a q-tip and get the front of the barrel with the breech open. Then I close it and take a bent q-tip and stick in the slot where the cocking handle rides and lube the back of the barrel and as far underneath I can get, then just move the breech backand forth.

Easist way I have found to get the cocking knob off is with 3400 PSI and a heavy slug, but it helps if your breech threads are stripped, and you hold the gun in such a way as the damn thing does not kill you when it blasts off the breech. 😛

Removing the cocking knob is a pain in the ass. When I had it out I drilled 2 holes all the way through it, at 90 degrees, about half way from top. Niw I turn it with the long side of an allen wrench. Much easier to remove/replace.

No. You will have to take the gun apart. Yes. Take the foam off the coking knob.

My 2011 AF rifle has a slot in the cocking knob. My older rifles have a hex screw.
Lefty loosy, righty tighty.

Be careful here. That screw is plastic. It will break. I used a steel 4-40×1/4” cap head screw to replace mine before they broke off in the power wheel. If you need one, PM me and I get one to you. I have several extra.

I removed the safety in all of my AF rifles. I haven’t noticed any change in the pull of the trigger.
