Q:

Carbon Double Tube Shroud

I made carbon Double-tube (carbon fiber and aluminum tubes) shroud and carbon Single-tube shroud and tested.
The subsonic insert was the copied Sparrow22 due to the best results in 2011 at several parties (see below site):

The insert diameter was a bit smaller for double-tube, but, the sound reduction was better than single carbon tube by 3dB with
below my bullpup.
The actual constructure of Sparrow22 is also double tubing.

I planned to make the double tube for my Talon.

Ah, the air layer between tubes that makes sense.
Gives me an idea to try next time I roll a tube.

Thanks.

I do not think a thick-wall carbon tube would accomplish the same effect. I think layers of carbonfiber, aluminum and air layer between the two create this additional moderation. Because I made steel tube and aluminum double tubing before, and I notice some noise reduction.

Just asking. Do you think a thick-wall carbon tube would accomplish the same effect, or is the aluminum sleeve necessary?

I can get or make almost any tube I need, but Ive just used stuff from the scrap bin. Being super quiet isn’t 100% necessary for me, but if its easy why not?

ID is 28mm and 29mm.

Vera-nice. 3db is huge in this.

What ID did you end up with?
