help Edgun R3 long .25 cal but stamped as a .22 cal

Before Ed started producing .22 caliber, his caliber of choice was .117, which was the most popular caliber at that time for air guns in Europe.

Back then Ed had to mark the .22 calibers with a .117 marking to get them out of the country. This apparently is now the problem with .25 caliber.

So, some of you .22 owners might have an Edgun with a smaller caliber stamped on it.

So if my assumption is correct, – an aft breech block could indeed be interchangable between .22 and .25. This is relevant for the question of the marking that has ben lazered into the aft breech block itself. Of course the front part of bolt/pellet probe would need to be of the same caliber as the front breech entry….

But bolts can be changed (if you manage to get them out) and shifted from one block to another…..

In countries where registration with the Police is needed, an aft breech block with a correct marking may be needed. If my theory is correct, – all that would be needed is the bolt housing/aft breech block to be replaced for the gun to be correctly labeled.

So if Ed were to produce a few spare aft breech blocks labeled .25 and distribute the same separately, – you could quite simply modify your gun yourself if needed…….

Trygve, Yes there is a difference between the 22 and 25 FRONT breech blocks!

Not even our good friend Nik could get a 25 cal pellet to go thru a front 22 cal breech block without a lot of heat, lube and hammers! 😆

The rear breech block’s ID MIGHT be the same, for the 22s and 25s and the rear of the cocking handle/probe’s diameter is probably the same OD but, the front of the probe HAS to be the correct size (22 or 25) to seal the front breech block when the gun is fired.

Believe me; you would know if you tried to shoot a 25 cal Matador that had a 22 cal cocking probe in it! The blast of air that came back past the 22 cal’s 2 probe O rings would be epic and you would not want to try a second shot! 😯

It makes my right check hurt and my right ear ring more than it usually does, just thinking about it!

Guys; AFAIK ———- ALL R3 25 cal Matadors are marked 22 cal!

Ed has to mark the 25s that way just to get them out of Russia.

Ed and Tony have to jump thru a whole lot of hoops and come up creative ideas just to get the Matadors out of Russia and into the US!

In Russia, air guns are in a “gray area”, I think that Russia has air gun laws that restrict the bore and power that can be sold/oUwned.

I have seen pics of Crickets that had a max pressure of 10 bar marked on the breech.

If Ed was making an AK 47 clone and exporting it, I really don’t think that he would have any trouble exporting them.
