Tofu, the Nightforce wasn’t bad by any means. It had a good image and I have heard nothing but good about the mechanics of it. I just thought the glass would be a little better than it was. I definitely would still recommend them to someone looking for a scope in that price range.

I can’t for the life of me remember what action that rifle had. Want to say surgeon but can’t remember. I know it had a krieger barrel. McMillan stock. It’s a looker for sure.

Lama,

Good info on the Nightforce scope. I got one coming on a custum rig im having built so i hope i have better luck with mine.

What kinda 338 rifle was that?

Thanx for the post guys and looks like u 2 had some fun for sure

Hey Lama!

Looks like you guy’s had a great time! 😀
Sorry I couldn’t be there, and I appreciate the en-vite. Manuela wasn’t feeling very well, so I needed to stay close to the house.

I did get to go Squirrel hunting that morning, and had a nice tasty tree-rat for B’fast. Had a small rabbit come running by me like his tail was on fire, followed closely by a big Jack Rabbit. WTF??? Well, within seconds, a BOB CAT 😯 came screaming by on the way to a rabbit b’fast.

Didn’t know there were any B’Cats so close to the house. I was only about 50 yards behind the berm at the end of the front yard!

I didn’t shoot him, (Had no way to get him mounted. Would just be a waste!) I whistled, and he turned and froze when he saw me. Man, he was beautiful in the Zeiss Mil. Dot’s!!! 😉 😀

It was an awesome day. Wind was harsh. Took a few rounds to get on target but once it was there it stayed there. We were both doing well. Once ssshooter got to know the rifle a bit he was on target at 750 yards no problem. Impressive that he was doing that with an unfamiliar rifle while a range full of people with their personal rifles couldn’t hit much of anything past 500 yards.

A note on that 338 lapua I shot. It has a nightforce scope on top of it, and I must say I was not impressed. The rifle wasn’t bad, trigger shoe was thin for my liking and it had a knock-off harris so it could have been more solid. But the nightforce, for being a couple thousand dollar scope, was not very clear. My leupold varixIII honestly looked about the same. I’m sure the mechanics were better than my leupy, and that is where the money is going, but I thought the glass should have been better. There was a massive difference between it and my premier, I mean I know there should be for the price difference, but it was a bigger gap than I expected.

All in all a good day though. Not that there is really such a thing as a bad day at the range. 🙂

Even with the right gun and load that is talent

what? You couldn’t walk out to the 1000 yard target to take a better picture, perhaps hold up a pack of cigarettes for Mr. Lama to shoot 😆 Nice shooting and a fun day I’m sure 😎

That was his hand load.

Outstanding, Mr Llama!!! 😀 That’s your reloaded ammo, isn’t it? 😉
