Q:

you gotta love the quality of old tools

I just finished rewiring a bench grinder that was my father in laws.
Not sure how old it is, but I have a 20 year old craftsman that is all metal and this one (also craftsman) is twice as heavy. After wiring it (was a 2 wire system , i added a ground wire to it with new wire) , I turned it on and the thing quietly hums, absolutely no vibration whatsoever. my other craftsman has to be bolted to the bench and things on the bench vibrate off.

the new one will get a set of buffing wheels while the old one is now my primary bench grinder.

Exactly why and how I got into Knife Making! More and more of the use it and throw it away mentality is creeping into ever thing we buy these days.
It sickens me. Many now days have no clue what the word QUALITY means. How many times have you been ask when showing something new-How much did that cost you? got one “just as good” ( a piece of Chinese shit), at “china mart”, for a lot less. Burns me up! 👿

Quality, buy once. Junk, buy over and over again. Not only does it not last, Junk never works well. (Unless your too brain dead to realize the difference!) 😆

Sadly, most are today!
